Tucked away on a charming Bristol street, it offers an intimate dining experience that feels both relaxed and just a little bit special – the sort of spot you almost don’t want to tell too many people about.

Chandos Road itself has become something of a foodie epicentre for Bristol, with some of the city’s best restaurants packed into this tiny stretch or road.

It’s an exciting place to dine right now, and Snobby’s is right at the heart of it – even expanding its footprint with the recent opening of wine bar Barroux just across the street.

We booked through First Table, which gave us 50% off all food if you’re booking one of the first tables of the evening service – and it turned out to be an exceptional decision. With drinks and service included, the entire bill came to just £62.16, making it not only a memorable meal but also incredible value for money.

Olive focaccia

There’s always a slight hesitation when it comes to small plates: will you leave still hungry, or will the cost spiral as you keep ordering “just one more”? Thankfully, neither concern held true here. In fact, nothing could have been further from the truth.

The menu is thoughtfully composed, and the portions – while refined – are satisfying enough to feel like a complete meal without overindulgence.

The restaurant itself sets the tone beautifully. With only a handful of tables, the atmosphere feels warm, calm, and quietly exclusive – like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem. It strikes a lovely balance between understated and special, making it perfect for a relaxed but meaningful evening out.

We began with olives (£5.50/FT price £2.75) and the olive focaccia (£6.50/FT price £3.25), and it’s no exaggeration to say the focaccia was among the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly baked with irresistibly crispy edges and a soft, airy centre, it was deeply flavourful and moreish – the kind of bread you keep reaching for long after you’ve told yourself you’re done.

Arancino alla norma at Snobby’s Chandos Road, Bristol

Next came the arancino alla norma (£12/FT£6), a huge egg shaped arancino ball sat on top of a cheese sauce. I think it’s safe to say this was our favoiurite dish of the night – only just beating out the focaccia. It oozed with flavour, its crisp exterior giving way to a rich, indulgent centre, while the cheese sauce alongside proved the perfect accompaniment – adding a creamy depth that elevated every bite.

This was followed by two pasta dishes: a rich, deeply comforting mutton & ‘nduja ragu (£21/FT£10.50) and a vegetarian version of the orecchiette porcini – so no sausage (£20/FT£10). The pasta dishes were recommended by the waiter as being substantial enough for a main on their own, and they were absolutely right.

Snobby’s mutton & ‘nduja ragu

Both dishes were beautifully executed – hearty, balanced, and packed with flavour – proving that small plates here don’t mean small satisfaction.

To finish, we opted for tiramisu (£8.50/FT£4.25) and mango sorbet(£5/£2.50). The tiramisu was light yet indulgent, with just the right balance of coffee and cream. The mango sorbet, on the other hand, was bright and refreshing – a perfect palate cleanser to round off the meal.

Snobby’s delivers on all fronts: atmosphere, flavour, and value. With the First Table offer, it becomes even more compelling – but even without it, this is a restaurant that feels worth seeking out. A small space with big charm, and food that more than lives up to the setting and the name.

Snobby’s is located at 6 Chandos Road, Bristol

Snobby’s is located on Chandos Road which has become something of a foodie epicentre for Bristol 17:05, 05…

[8818
381,748,393,786,4884,20077,16,15
post-874074","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-bristol","tag-bristol","tag-britain","tag-england","tag-food-and-drink","tag-great-britain","tag-redland","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom
["GET
