You may be surprised to find out that there are a whopping 3,000 green spaces dotted across London, making it one of the greenest metropolises in the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Of course, at Time Out, we\u2019ve got our own opinions on which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/things-to-do\/londons-major-parks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">parks<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/things-to-do\/londons-hidden-gardens-and-green-spaces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gardens<\/a> in London are most worth a visit, but now the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/travel\/destinations\/europe\/united-kingdom\/england\/london\/gardens-in-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Telegraph<\/a>\u00a0has weighed in with its list of the city\u2019s 10 \u2018greatest gardens\u2019. Some are completely free to stroll around to your heart\u2019s content while others require an entry fee so that they can remain bloomin\u2019 beautiful .\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>RECOMMENDED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/things-to-do\/the-best-rooftop-gardens-in-london\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The best rooftop gardens in London<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/attractions\/kew-gardens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kew Gardens<\/a><\/strong> was up first. Home to more than 50,000 living plants, the paper called the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew \u2018arguably the crown jewel of British horticulture\u2019. To explore\u00a0this\u00a0botanic oasis, you\u2019ll have to pay \u00a322 but we reckon it\u2019s worth it.\u00a0If you go, don\u2019t skip the huge\u00a0Temperate House, the world\u2019s largest\u00a0surviving Victorian glasshouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A little closer to the city centre (and free to enter), the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/attractions\/barbican-conservatory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barbican Conservatory<\/a><\/strong>, \u2018part plant haven, part architectural marvel\u2019\u00a0also made the\u00a0Telegraph\u2019s\u00a0list, as did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/attractions\/holland-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Holland Park\u2019s<\/a> <strong>Kyoto Garden<\/strong>, a \u2018serene Japanese garden\u2019 and \u2018a testament to cultural exchange and enduring craftsmanship\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"65a0c685-ba52-1362-43d6-ae6f77231b43\" class=\"photo lazy inline\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"lazy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1746804983_364_image.webp.webp\" alt=\"Barbican Conservatory\" data-caption=\"\" data-credit=\"Photo: Max Colson\" data-width-class=\"\" data-image-id=\"106223677\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nPhoto: Max Colson&#13;<\/p>\n<p>There were several lesser-known green hubs that featured, too. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/attractions\/st-dunstan-in-the-east\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>St Dunstan-in-the-East<\/strong><\/a> is a Grade I-listed church ruin that has turned into a magical secret garden in the middle of the City, a short walk from Tower Hill station. The\u00a0Telegraph\u00a0recommended that you \u2018bring a sandwich and take a quiet lunch break as part of your tour of this historic part of London.<\/p>\n<p>Another more hidden garden celebrated by the paper was <strong>Phoenix Garden<\/strong>, a quiet\u00a0leafy\u00a0retreat within bustling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/things-to-do\/london-soho-area-guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soho<\/a>.
