Easter<\/a> has marked the start of the tourist season in the Playas de Muro<\/a> tourist area, with 80 per cent of hotels<\/a> open<\/strong>. This figure represents a 16% increase compared to 2025, when during this period the percentage of open hotels stood at 63.33% despite the fact that the Easter holidays fell later in the calendar, around mid-April.<\/p>\n

Cycling tourism<\/a> has, once again, been the sector underpinning the early opening of hotels throughout the Bay of Alcudia<\/a><\/strong>, although both the hotel accommodation and the complementary services in Playas de Muro have made a strong commitment to specialising in this segment. The construction of bicycle garages and repair areas, indoor swimming pools and a wide range of specialist shops offering everything needed for cycling<\/a> have been a constant feature in the tourist centre of Muro in recent years.<\/p>\n

The highlight for the arrival of this type of tourist is the Mallorca<\/a> 312 cycling event, taking place on 25 April, one of Europe\u2019s most important cycle tours, in which more than 8,500 cyclists took part last year, with places selling out in a matter of seconds. The Playas de Muro<\/strong> Hotel Association welcomes this increase in the number of hotels open in April.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is very positive for everyone, as it means the activation of not only the hotel sector, but also restaurants, shops and all complementary services. And this translates into a greater number of employees and their corresponding contribution to social welfare,\u201d notes the business association chaired by Pepe Luna.<\/p>\n

As for occupancy, the start of this season has been similar to last year\u2019s, at around 75%. However, this time it is marked by the effects of the war<\/a> in Iran on the global economy and, in particular, on the price of air and ferry tickets as a result of rising oil prices. This situation also has a direct impact<\/strong> on the supply of certain products, which may be affected.<\/p>\n

These occupancy figures are forecasts in an international context marked by geopolitical uncertainty that requires constant monitoring due to its effects on the economy and international travel<\/a><\/strong>, according to the association representing hotels in this part of Mallorca. In other words, there is a greater risk of bookings being cancelled at the last minute due to factors beyond the hotel\u2019s control.<\/p>\n

The Playas de Muro Hotel Association reaffirms its commitment to diversification and the gradual extension of the season, as well as the resulting reduction in seasonal labour and greater stability in tourism employment.
