Shane Lowry firmly believes golfers should be given more time after tournament rounds before engaging the media for an interview.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Irishman\u2019s patience was wearing thin at the Masters<\/a> as he walked away from an interview<\/a> after a tumultuous third round.<\/p>\n

He was competing well until his chances dwindled after bogeys on the final two holes which led to a drop down the leaderboard.<\/p>\n

While he had a bad round, Rory McIlroy<\/a> recorded an immense one, which led to questions being put to Lowry about his close friend.<\/p>\n

In response Lowry said: \u201cNo. No, I’m not going to stand here and talk about Rory for 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m trying to win the tournament, as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lowry would prefer a process similar to tennis – the sport which offers players a break before facing the flashing lights and questions of journalists.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, like, obviously, I’m good friends with Rory,\u201d Lowry explained. \u201cSo I have to talk about him a lot anyway, but I just thought the timing of it – I just bogeyed the last two, I thought it was a bit, yeah, you know what I mean?<\/p>\n

\u201cI think a lot of players, a lot of even certain media members have said it to me that, you know, I said the right thing. I do think there’s a period where we should get for when we finish.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, 80 to 90 per cent of the time we’re fine, but like that 10 per cent that you kind of need a little bit of time to cool off or get your thoughts, right?\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI do think the media will get a better view of what’s going on. If the players had a little bit more time to think about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lowry gave an example of Bryson DeChambeau<\/a>\u2019s comments about McIlroy as reason for why a break is needed.<\/p>\n

The LIV player mentioned the Masters winner\u2019s behaviour in the scoring hut after a bogey on the 18th hole which led him to a playoff against Justin Rose<\/a>.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau claimed McIlroy would not talk to him<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut even that, like the answer he gave there, he might give a different answer 30 minutes later,\u201d added Lowry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He revealed once a tournament nears an intense conclusion most players do not talk as they require deep focus.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know what I mean? So like, I thought that was probably taken out of context.<\/p>\n

\u201cBryson was obviously, you know, annoyed at himself because he didn’t play great that day. <\/p>\n
