Streeting said West has \u201cno business\u201d headlining the festival, and that the organizers \u201cshould be ashamed of themselves\u201d for a terrible error of judgment.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese weren\u2019t a couple of off-color remarks,\u201d Streeting told Sky News. \u201cThese were, I think, a pattern of behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cAntisemitism is serious, it can be deadly and people like Kanye West, who have an enormous platform, fame, reach, they have to accept the responsibility that comes with that. And I don\u2019t think he has. I\u2019m only too disappointed the festival organizers are too blind to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Festival Managing Director Melvin Benn called West\u2019s comments \u201cabhorrent,\u201d but said his songs were played on radio stations and he, for now, has a legal right to enter the U.K. and perform.<\/p>\n
Benn said people should \u201coffer some forgiveness and hope to him as I have decided to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
