Michael Carrick has insisted that Harry Maguire proved a real point to Thomas Tuchel after the Manchester United star climbed back into the England team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thomas Tuchel<\/a> had called up both Harry Maguire<\/a> and Kobbie Mainoo<\/a> for the March international break after their turnaround in form under interim boss Michael Carrick<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maguire had not featured under Tuchel<\/a> until last month\u2019s international friendlies, despite being a key England pick for former Three Lions boss Sir Gareth Southgate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old former Manchester United captain<\/a> was able to pick up important England minutes against both Uruguay and Japan in the matches at Wembley.<\/p>\n

Thomas Tuchel has warned that Harry Maguire faces tough opposition to climbing into the England starting XI for the Three Lions\u2019 World Cup campaign this summer.<\/p>\n

However, Maguire has now put himself in contention for a place in the World Cup squad ahead of the upcoming FIFA tournament in North America.<\/p>\n

The Manchester United<\/a> defender has been able to impress with his run of form at Old Trafford<\/a> since Michael Carrick took charge as interim head coach this season.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Sky Sports<\/a>, United legend<\/a> Carrick feels that Maguire once again reiterated that he is an \u201cimportant\u201d part of the England team after his recall.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, well, that\u2019s what\u2026 he\u2019s been through so much and seen so much and achieved so much in his time and yeah, he\u2019s had some um kind of more challenging times and that kind of shapes you as a person, as a player anyway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it just shows you how well he did for England again after being out for a period of time.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he just stepped in there and played ever so well again. He\u2019s an important part of the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the end of the March international break, Maguire also inked a brand-new deal with Man Utd ahead of his previous contract expiring in the summer.<\/p>\n

England star Maguire will now remain at Old Trafford<\/a> until 2027 and the Red Devils have the option to extend his future by another 12 months if needed.<\/p>\n

Carrick has claimed that he was involved in the contract process with the Three Lions international and was keen for Maguire to remain at the Premier League club.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was part of discussions,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s, obviously, a little bit unique as well in terms of this end of the season, but I think, of course, in terms of an opinion, I think it\u2019s pretty obvious, really, in terms of how he\u2019s been.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what he brings to the group, anyway, that it wasn\u2019t a difficult decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I think, yeah, that\u2019s what I mean. I think everyone who\u2019s part of it, everyone\u2019s delighted that it\u2019s worked out and worked out so quickly, really.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maguire has started in all 10 Premier League matches since Red Devils legend Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim<\/a> in the short term at Man Utd.<\/p>\n
