A man has been taken to hospital following an alleged assault which led to a heavy police presence in a Welsh town. Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police were called to reports of an assault in Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire<\/a> at around 1.45pm on Friday (May 9).<\/p>\n A witness told WalesOnline that armed police were spotted at the scene. Dyfed-Powys Police have been asked to confirm whether armed officers responded to the incident. The main road through the town, the A475, was closed following the alleged assault.<\/p>\n Police have said they will remain in the town while enquiries into the incident continue.<\/p>\n The man taken to hospital has injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The road was closed for a short time and reopened just before 4pm.<\/p>\n “There is no threat to members of the public and officers will remain in the local area while enquiries continue.
