[TAMA COUNTY, Iowa] \u2014 The Tama County Sheriff’s Office is requiring yearly mental health visits for all full-time deputies, dispatchers and jail staff.<\/p>\n
The Board of Supervisors approved the plan this week. Sheriff Casey Schmidt said the requirement aims to take a proactive approach to mental health for employees who face emotional and traumatic situations on the job.<\/p>\n
“The ups and downs of that roller coaster ride of the adrenaline and the different types of calls over time, it adds up,” Schmidt said.<\/p>\n
