Glen Johnson has urged Liverpool to stick by Arne Slot – insisting the head coach did enough in his debut campaign to earn himself a clean slate next season at Anfield<\/a>.<\/p>\n Slot won the club’s 20th league title in his first full year on Merseyside but has found his second much more difficult following a high turnover in his squad that saw the Reds spend around \u00a3440m last summer while recouping roughly half.<\/p>\n Ten Premier League<\/a> defeats so far tis season is the most for a decade and Liverpool<\/a> were humiliated at Manchester City last weekend as they lost 4-0 to exit the FA Cup<\/a> at the quarter-final stage.<\/p>\n Speaking before the 2-0 Champions League quarter-final first-leg defeat at Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> on Wednesday night, former Reds right-back Johnson argued Slot<\/a> deserved to keep his job despite the current struggles.<\/p>\n FOLLOW OUR LIVERPOOL FC FACEBOOK PAGE!<\/strong> All the latest news and analysis from Anfield on the Liverpool Echo’s dedicated LFC Facebook page<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou don’t like to see managers getting sacked, and sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t,” Johnson, who played 200 times for Liverpool, told CasinoWizard.<\/p>\n “Slot is the manager who set the bar so high last season and continued it. There\u2019s only so long you can keep the bar that high and so and form dips in and out.<\/p>\n “For me he’s got to re-evaluate the squad and go again in the summer and next season.<\/p>\n \u201cWe know he is capable of producing because he has already done it. I do not want to see managers getting sacked. I\u2019d love him to stay and almost start again.”<\/p>\n The Reds will have to reshape their squad again this season with Andy Robertson<\/a> confirming he will follow fellow legend Mohamed Salah<\/a> out of the club in the summer.<\/p>\n And Johnson added: “It would need a very good pre-season and a couple of new additions to get the excitement around the club again.<\/p>\n “That’s what every manager has to go through every season. So I think if they get that right, then of course they’re more than good enough to keep competing with the same manager.<\/p>\n “The more you look at it, the less it looks like Liverpool will finish in the top four this season but I don\u2019t think that needs to be the end for Slot.”<\/p>\n Liverpool return to action when they entertain Fulham on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n The Reds are currently fifth in the Premier League and, while a top-five finish would guarantee Champions League<\/a> qualification, they are in a fierce fight to achieve that.<\/p>\n Asked at his press conference<\/a> to preview the visit of Fulham about whether he still retains the support of the club’s hierarchy, Slot said<\/a>: “I am repeating myself a lot but I have said many times I feel a lot of support not only from the owners but from Richard (Hughes, sporting director) and Michael (Edwards, FSG head of football) as well, and as weird as it might sound I also feel the support of the fans.<\/p>\n “We were going out in Paris when the players went out for the warm-up and the fans after a 4-0 loss (at Man City) immediately started singing ‘We love you Liverpool’.<\/p>\n “And after it’s fair to say we were outplayed over 90 minutes we went to the away end and they were still singing for us and clapping for us.<\/p>\n “That support, I have felt, we have felt constantly.
