Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has a \u201cproven\u201d first-team player among his squad after the Europa League semi-final tie against Athletic Club on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is according to Phil Jones<\/a>, who waxed lyrical about one Manchester United player\u2019s performance against Athletic Club<\/a> in the 4-1 victory at Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

United knocked La Liga club Athletic Club<\/a> out of the Europa League semi-finals and the Red Devils punched their ticket to the 2025 final against Tottenham.<\/p>\n

Ernesto Valverde\u2019s men faced an uphill battle on their visit to Old Trafford on Thursday evening after United\u2019s 3-0 win over Athletic Club<\/a> in the first-leg tie.<\/p>\n

Following United\u2019s result over Athletic Club<\/a> in Bilbao last Thursday, the Spanish side broke the deadlock in the return leg and they were 1-0 up going into half-time.<\/p>\n

Mason Mount climbed off the bench for United<\/a> after the break and the 26-year-old ex-Chelsea star cancelled out Mikel Jauregizar\u2019s first-half opener for Athletic Club.<\/p>\n

United<\/a> were 2-1 up only seven minutes after Mason Mount\u2019s<\/a> equaliser in the 72nd minute, with Casemiro<\/a> netting against the La Liga outfit in Thursday\u2019s match.<\/p>\n

Rasmus Hojlund<\/a> scored United\u2019s third in the 85th minute before Mount signed off his stunning second-half performance by bagging his brace deep into injury time.<\/p>\n

Manchester United manager<\/a> Ruben Amorim withdrew Manuel Ugarte<\/a> in the 62nd minute and he rolled the dice with Mason Mount in the Europa League clash.<\/p>\n

Amorim has been managing Mount\u2019s return to the United first-team<\/a> squad after another injury-hit season at Old Trafford for the former England international.<\/p>\n

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, ex-United and England defender Phil Jones praised Mount and he is hopeful that he can stay fit and avoid another injury setback.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m delighted for Mason Mount,\u201d he said, as per BBC Sport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always difficult when you\u2019re out for a lengthy spell of time, all you want to do is play football.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a lad who works extremely hard. He\u2019s a wonderful player, he\u2019s proven that for England.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got a good goalscoring record, left foot, right foot. You\u2019ve got to keep him fit now and has got to look after himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phil Jones\u2019 feelings on Man Utd under Ruben Amorim ahead of the Europa League final vs Tottenham<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jones insisted that United need to be back in the Champions League and believes the Red Devils have taken a \u201chuge step in the right direction\u201d after their 4-1 win.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know people talk about how Man Utd has [lost] its attraction for players, but it\u2019ll never lose that because it\u2019s the biggest club in the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a bit disrespectful to say it\u2019s bigger for one club or the other, but I do think, for Man Utd to get back in the Champions League, it\u2019s a huge step in the right direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe league form has been nowhere near what\u2019s expected this season, but it gives them a platform to try and implement something better next season and try and attract higher-calibre players.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t call it. It\u2019s a massive game for both clubs. I\u2019m not sure if Spurs do or don\u2019t win the final, Ange Postecoglou will be in charge next season. I think they\u2019ve already made their mind up.\u201d<\/p>\n
