A brand new, massive Jewish food festival is coming to New York City this summer, a one-day-only event huge in scale and flavor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thegreatnosh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Great Nosh<\/a>, dubbed as New York\u2019s biggest picnic, will take place on Governors Island on Sunday, June 22, featuring food and beverage from iconic Jewish restaurants across the city, intriguing and unexpected culinary collabs (Thai Diner x Katz\u2019s Deli! Gertrude&#8217;s x Dhamaka!), plus cultural activities like jewelry-making with Lower East Side beading queen Susan Alexandra.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>RECOMMENDED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/news\/looking-back-at-10-years-of-queens-night-market-the-no-1-ranked-food-festivals-in-the-u-s-042325\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Looking back at 10 years of Queens Night Market, the no. 1 ranked food festival in the U.S.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Presented by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewishfoodsociety.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jewish Food Society<\/a>\u00a0and co-sponsored by several Jewish organizations, including UJA Federation New York, Schusterman Family Philanthropies and Pershing Square Philanthropies, the nonprofit\u2019s founder Naama Shefi was inspired by picnics she grew up enjoying on her kibbutz (a communal village in Israel), and New York\u2019s outdoor spaces. \u201cI love our city\u2019s community gardens and parks and wanted to recreate this type of magic on a larger scale,\u201d Shefi says.\u00a0 \u201cJewish culture and NYC food are so deeply intertwined. The Great Nosh is a new space that celebrates that history and connection, where we can step out of our daily routine and enjoy good food, wine, music, art and relaxed time with friends.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Running from 11am to 4pm, The Great Nosh will be a five-hour brunch celebration including pop-ups of iconic New York establishments, interactive culinary demos, live music, a Grandmas Tent hosted by Gail Simmons and chef Pati Jinich, a wine bar by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/bars\/the-four-horsemen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Four Horseman<\/a> and much more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll 12 pop-ups celebrate friendships within the culinary community and many feature unexpected creations drawing on NYC staples that will introduce a completely new take on these dishes,\u201d Shefi says. \u201cMy friend Zoe Kanan of Elbow will partner with her neighbor Sunny Lee of Sunn\u2019s on a vegetable-forward banchan bialy with smoky eggplant and zucchini. I love how Sunny and Zoe represent their mutual appreciation of Jewish traditions and are bringing to life Korean and Jewish flavors in the most delicious and thoughtful way.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>More highlights include a special \u201cschnitz &amp; chips\u201d with tahini ketchup and amba by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/restaurants\/laser-wolf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laser Wolf<\/a>\u2019s Mike Solomonov and Ed Szymanski from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/restaurants\/dame\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dame<\/a>, plus ice cream treats by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/shopping\/russ-daughters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russ and Daughters<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/restaurants\/morgensterns-finest-ice-cream-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morgenstern&#8217;s<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud to live in a city with such rich and vibrant Jewish history and culture that is part of the city\u2019s fabric.
