They\u2019re also all former Masters champions, with Scheffler winning in 2022 and 2024, Woods winning in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2019, and McIlroy winning in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler achieved his 20th PGA Tour victory with just 151 starts, a pace that tracks only with Woods and Jack Nicklaus\u2014and all 20 of Scheffler\u2019s wins came in just a four-year time span. He\u2019s considered the best golfer on the planet right now, according to the <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.owgr.com\/playerprofile\/scottie-scheffler-18417\" href=\"https:\/\/www.owgr.com\/playerprofile\/scottie-scheffler-18417\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Official World Golf Ranking<\/a>, a spot he\u2019s maintained for 146 consecutive weeks, Gold Ranking Stats <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.golfrankingstats.com\/player\/scottie-scheffler\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfrankingstats.com\/player\/scottie-scheffler\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">data<\/a> shows.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s a four-time major champion, having claimed two Masters titles, a PGA Championship, and a British Open, plus he\u2019s an <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.espn.com\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/40724534\/scottie-scheffler-wins-men-golf-gold-final-round-62\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/40724534\/scottie-scheffler-wins-men-golf-gold-final-round-62\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Olympic gold medalist<\/a>, and was the PGA Tour Player of the Year for <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/47314770\/scottie-scheffler-wins-fourth-straight-pga-tour-player-year-award\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/47314770\/scottie-scheffler-wins-fourth-straight-pga-tour-player-year-award\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">four straight seasons<\/a>. One of the most remarkable facts about Scheffler is that he\u2019s only been playing professional golf since 2018, right after he graduated from the University of Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler is one of the most decorated players in golf and is a top earner, but he\u2019s already shown he\u2019s not letting the wealth and fame get to his head.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, he donated his entire Ryder Cup stipend of $500,000 to charity.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I don\u2019t like to give charitable dollars for some kind of recognition\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Last September, the PGA of America broke with tradition by directly compensating U.S. Ryder Cup players for the <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.golfdigest.com\/story\/ryder-cup-2025--what-s-the-deal-with-players-being-paid-for-the-\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfdigest.com\/story\/ryder-cup-2025--what-s-the-deal-with-players-being-paid-for-the-\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">first time<\/a>. Each of the 12 U.S. team members received $300,000 earmarked for a charity of their choice and $200,000 as a personal stipend, for a total of $500,000 per player. The charitable portion alone was a significant increase from the $200,000 donation that had been made in each player\u2019s name since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>That decision came with some backlash, particularly after European captain Luke Donald said his players had <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/golf\/articles\/cq8ed3l4q84o#:~:text=Published,time%20is%20yet%20to%20come.%22\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/golf\/articles\/cq8ed3l4q84o#:~:text=Published,time%20is%20yet%20to%20come.%22\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rejected<\/a> the idea of being paid. He <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/46381274\/luke-donald-clarifies-prize-money-remark-ryder-cup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/46381274\/luke-donald-clarifies-prize-money-remark-ryder-cup\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> the Ryder Cup \u201cis not about prize money or world ranking points. It\u2019s about pride,\u201d although he later clarified his remarks weren\u2019t directed at U.S. players.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler took advantage of the extra earnings, but in an unexpected way. He said he would donate the entire amount (both the portion earmarked for charity and his personal stipend) to organizations in his hometown of Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy wife and I like to do a lot of stuff in our local community, and I\u2019ve never been one to announce what we do,\u201d Scheffler said, according to <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/live-blogs\/ryder-cup-2025-live-updates-team-usa-europe-practice\/AYv77iR3g8AX\/sFxTQoexr0yE\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/live-blogs\/ryder-cup-2025-live-updates-team-usa-europe-practice\/AYv77iR3g8AX\/sFxTQoexr0yE\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Athletic<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t like to give charitable dollars for some kind of recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have something planned for the money that we\u2019ll be receiving,\u201d he continued. \u201cI think it\u2019s a really cool thing that the PGA of America has empowered us to do.\u201d Scheffler never announced the names of specific organizations to which he donated because he said he doesn\u2019t participate in charity for recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Other Ryder Cup players, including Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, along with captain Keegan Bradley, confirmed they would donate their full stipends as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of pride that comes into playing in one of these, and yes, we\u2019re happy to get paid for this, and yes, I plan on donating it,\u201d Schauffele said, according to <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/golf\/news\/ryder-cup-2025-stipends-pay-scottie-scheffler-patrick-cantlay\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/golf\/news\/ryder-cup-2025-stipends-pay-scottie-scheffler-patrick-cantlay\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CBS Sports<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s something that selfishly will make me feel good about what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Philanthropic giving rooted in personal loss<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler\u2019s most personal philanthropic work traces back to a childhood friendship with James Ragan, a fellow junior golfer in Texas who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2006. Ragan and his older sister, Mecklin, cofounded the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation in 2010 to raise awareness and fund research for pediatric cancer. James, who <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/riceowls.com\/news\/2014\/2\/18\/Rice_Remembers_James_Ragan\" href=\"https:\/\/riceowls.com\/news\/2014\/2\/18\/Rice_Remembers_James_Ragan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">played golf at Rice University<\/a>, died in 2014 at age 20 during his sophomore year.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler remained involved with the foundation for years, <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.elegantislandliving.net\/community\/charitable-giving-alive-and-well-in-the-rsm-classic\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.elegantislandliving.net\/community\/charitable-giving-alive-and-well-in-the-rsm-classic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">donating $50,000<\/a> in 2019 after winning the RSM Birdies Fore Love competition early in his professional career. He later partnered with Mecklin Ragan to create a golf program called <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/triumphoverkidcancer.org\/scottiesheroes\/\" href=\"https:\/\/triumphoverkidcancer.org\/scottiesheroes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scottie\u2019s Heroes<\/a> that puts clubs in the hands of kids undergoing cancer treatment.<\/p>\n<p>In late 2024, <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/golf.com\/news\/scottie-scheffler-car-yukon-gmc-auction\/?srsltid=AfmBOopeyWdQKMxwI9ps-AMNTGOCJ7r6yNoHIK8FKpwnKNrE55TB7s2H\" href=\"https:\/\/golf.com\/news\/scottie-scheffler-car-yukon-gmc-auction\/?srsltid=AfmBOopeyWdQKMxwI9ps-AMNTGOCJ7r6yNoHIK8FKpwnKNrE55TB7s2H\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scheffler auctioned off<\/a> his beloved 2012 GMC Yukon XL\u2014the car his father gave him after college\u2014through Heritage Auctions, with all proceeds benefiting Triumph Over Kid Cancer.
