The TV show-based reality series has been on air since 2013, and sees opinionated television-lovers sharing their thoughts on the week’s shows.<\/p>\n
While many watch weekly as an escape from serious matters, fans of the show are now arguing it has become too politics-focused, with this week’s show seeing the stars debating Reform’s performance in last week’s elections.<\/p>\n
Many of the cast shared their opinions on Nigel Farage, with couple Dave and Shirley Griffiths discussing the Reform leader.<\/p>\n
Dave shared how he agrees with some of Farage’s takes but at other times completely disagrees.<\/p>\n
Other families also debated Reform’s success in the latest election, sharing mixed responses. However, it seems there was a call for political discussion to be removed from the “lighthearted” show.<\/p>\n

One viewer fumed on X: “#Gogglebox used to be something lighthearted and fun to watch, now they are ostracising viewers for having different politic views. Watched for years. I’m done. Just rename Channel 4, Channel Leftie\/woke and be done.”<\/p>\n
Another gave a mixed review as they shared: “#Gogglebox Ignoring the politics. Loved Gogglebox tonight.”<\/p>\n
“Right – won’t be watching the thick cretins on #gogglebox who haven’t got a scooby on politics anymore. @Channel4 stick this programme up your BIASED a***,” another furious viewer added.<\/p>\n
Others called for a different change to the content, with some complaining about the show dedicating a lot of coverage to reality series, Married At First Sight.<\/p>\n

Never fails to wildly entertain….. #Gogglebox.” (sic)<\/p>\n It’s not the first time the show has faced calls to change the content they show, with an episode earlier this year prompting viewers to fume over “weird and disturbing” scenes. <\/p>\n The controversial segment from The White Lotus Season 3, shown in February’s Gogglebox, featured actor Patrick Schwarzenegger in a hotel room scene containing explicit content and nudity, which proved too much for both the show’s families and audiences at home.<\/p>\n During the excruciating moment, Schwarzenegger’s character Saxon was seen lying in bed with his on-screen brother and asked him some obscene questions about his preference for pornography.<\/p>\n The scene then shows Saxon walking naked to the bathroom for what he described as “me time” featuring his full-frontal reflection visible in the mirror.<\/p>\n While Gogglebox viewers were spared the complete nudity, the show’s stars witnessed the unedited version – leading to collective gasps of shock.<\/p>\n Brothers Tremaine and Tristan Plummer could barely watch.<\/p>\n “Good thing Saxon closed the door because I was getting a bit worried there,” Tristan said as his brother shrank into his hoodie with his eyes clamped shut.<\/p>\n Giles Wood turned to his wife Mary during the scene, remarking: “So far, so pervy.”<\/p>\n Viewers at home were also critical, with many slamming the Channel 4 show for airing the White Lotus scenes.<\/p>\n![\"Gogglebox\"\/](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1746834970_44_gogglebox.jpg\")
