We’ve already heard a lot over the past few weeks about how Xbox is dominating PS5 as a publisher<\/a> at the moment, but the extent of Microsoft’s success has largely remained a mystery in terms of copies sold.<\/p>\n

The company rarely provides sales data like this, but thanks to Alinea Analytics<\/a>, we now have a much clearer insight into just how much Xbox is taking over the PS5 store as things stand, and the results are pretty ridiculous.<\/p>\n

If you look at the top 10 PlayStation games in April, for example, you can see how crazy the stats are:<\/p>\n

Alinea Analytics mentions that Xbox “accounts for a nice 69% of copies sold in the top 5”, and shares the crazy fact that “Xbox is now selling more copies of games on PlayStation than PlayStation itself”.<\/p>\n

Looking at the Forza Horizon 5<\/a> data, you can see just how well it performed on PS5 in its first few days as well, and it’s interesting that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle<\/a> didn’t fare anywhere near as well at launch.<\/p>\n

In fact, Forza Horizon 5 is currently selling “over 10 times faster” than Indiana Jones on PlayStation:<\/p>\n

Overall, the outlet actually states that “Xbox\u2019s releases on PlayStation have been a mixed bag so far”, pointing to games like Pentiment<\/a> as having struggled to take off since landing on the platform. There are obviously major exceptions to that rule though, particularly in the form of Sea of Thieves<\/a> and Forza Horizon 5<\/a> in recent times.<\/p>\n

Add to that the shadow drop success of Oblivion Remastered<\/a>, plus the legacy success of Minecraft<\/a>, and you can see why Xbox is faring so well. And, with DOOM: The Dark Ages<\/a>, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4<\/a>, Gears of War: Reloaded<\/a> and much more on the horizon, don’t be surprised if stats like these become commonplace throughout 2025.<\/p>\n

“Interestingly, Xbox-owned games accounted for 48% of copies sold in the PlayStation top 10 in April. Xbox achieved this with just three games (PlayStation itself only had two in the top 10, with TLOU2 and MLB).<\/p>\n

With big AAA releases like Doom: The Dark Ages and Elden Ring: NightReign, anticipated smaller releases like Revenge of the Savage Planet and Monster Train 2, and the continued success of recent releases and the usual suspects, the May 2025 PlayStation ranking already promises to be an eventful one.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
