The 32-year-old made his national debut just a few days after Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup win, rounding off a memorable week.

Tuchel will name another England squad for the friendlies in June, where several Newcastle players will be hoping to get the nod. Players like Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy have been exceptional this season, and many will argue that they have done enough to merit a place in the England squad.

While Newcastle and England fans enjoy Tuchel’s reign as Three Lions boss, Paul Gascoigne has suggested that a former Toon ace will be given the nod for the job in the future.

Photo by Harry Murphy/Getty ImagesPaul Gascoigne praises former Newcastle United player Scott Parker

Scott Parker has built a decent career for himself since retiring from football. The former Newcastle man has moved into management, helping Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley back up to the Premier League from the Championship.

While local fans will remember Parker for his time at Newcastle, he made a bigger name for himself at clubs like Fulham and West Ham. Parker was desperate to leave Newcastle. He did not enjoy his time on Tyneside and was looking for a way out in 2006.

Parker will reunite with Newcastle for the 2025/26 campaign after achieving promotion with Burnley in April.

The 44-year-old has now received the public backing of Gazza, who believes the Englishman will go on to do great things in football.

When asked if he thinks Parker will become England manager one day, Gazza said: “Yeah, definitely,” he told SportingTalk

“He’s an intelligent guy, smart guy. Even when he played, he was an intelligent player and kept everything neat.

“He was a bit like (Declan) Rice, but Parker was a good player. He’s neat as well and had a good engine on him.”

Eddie Howe was linked with the England job after Gareth Southgate’s sacking

After Southgate left England, there was a lot of speculation over who would take his place. He had been in the same role for eight years, so they needed a brilliant new head coach to take his place.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was considered for the England job, but the 47-year-old opted to stay on Tyneside for the 2024/25 campaign.

That decision has proven to be the correct one, as Howe helped Newcastle end their trophy drought and immortalised himself as one of the club’s best-ever head coaches.

England’s decision not to take on Howe baffled Sean Dyche. The former Burnley and Everton manager could not believe that Tuchel was appointed ahead of him.

Despite that, Howe always looked set to stay in Newcastle. He always vehemently denied any speculation about him leaving.

Newcastle United legend Paul Gascoigne has backed a former Toon player to become the manager of England in…

[5008
748,393,4884,42249,14937,16,15
0":"post-88786","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-england","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-paul-gascoigne","12":"tag-scott-parker","13":"tag-uk","14":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
