The cash-strapped force has complained<a aria-label=\" about not getting enough funding from the Scottish Government, Link opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk\/news\/politics\/snp-blasted-police-scotland-overtime-36978839\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\"> about not getting enough funding from the Scottish Government, <\/a>meaning police numbers may have to be slashed again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">But according to a freedom of information request by the Scottish Daily Express, it has managed to find a lot of money for non-disclosure agreements, basically using taxpayer cash <a aria-label=\"to stop whistleblowing. Link opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk\/news\/politics\/snp-government-has-something-hide-36527928\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">to stop whistleblowing. <\/a>The sums of cash were used to settle claims including discrimination, unfair dismissal, and harassment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The SNP Executive oversees the police force and have been caught up repeatedly in its own secrecy scandals, fighting the Scottish Information Commissioner in court repeatedly to block the release of documents. The highest cost came in 2023 when 14 gagging orders were noted, with a bill of \u00a32.1m. In 2024, there were five at \u00a3182,500 and there were two last year, reaching \u00a358,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Critics slated the huge amount spent on these deals, especially with the financial struggles <a aria-label=\"of the force. The threat of the SNP getting a majority is very real, and if they do, they\u2019ll continue to resist accountability \u2013 that\u2019s why you need to vote Scottish Conservative on your peach ballot paper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Just last month, Police Scotland cut the number of special sick pay arrangements offered to officers due to financial worries. The force sought a \u00a3105 million uplift, but received only \u00a390 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cCompensation payments are dealt with on a case-by-case basis with a view to securing best value for the public purse.
