Bryson DeChambeau, numbered amongst the pre-tournament favourites, tumbled out before the weekend arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Rory McIlroy climbed to the summit of the leaderboard at the midway stage, sparking a sarcastic reaction from a LIV Golf star after his commanding second round, with the Masters confirming it will become the richest men&#8217;s Major championship in history.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the overall purse reached $21 million, rising $1 million from the previous year. This year, the total prize fund stands at $22.5 million, with the victor claiming a handsome $4.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>McIlroy collected $4.2 million when he secured the career grand slam. Success at Augusta National offers far more substantial rewards beyond mere financial gain.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is going to be the first time I drive down Magnolia Lane, and it&#8217;s all going to be about enjoying my week,&#8221; said McIlroy ahead of the 2026 tournament.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You know, enjoying the perks that come along with being a Masters Champion. Having a parking space in the Champions car park to use the Champions locker room. You know, hosting the dinner on Tuesday night.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The top prize has continued to increase compared with previous years.
