Edinburgh schools<\/a> have been targeted in a cyber attack with all pupil’s passwords being reset as a result.<\/p>\n Council bosses<\/a> say that they noticed some “unusual e-mail activity” on their schools and early years IT network on Friday afternoon. In response, they have now had to immediately reset all passwords across the network, including those of their students<\/a>.<\/p>\n The suspected phishing attack comes at a time when pupils are studying for exams, with students blocked out of revision resources. Children<\/a> have been told they can visit their school on Saturday morning to be issued with a new password.<\/p>\n An Edinburgh City Council<\/a> spokesperson said: “On the afternoon of Friday May 9, we noticed some unusual e-mail activity on our schools and early years IT network. As a precaution, we have had to make the difficult decision to immediately reset all passwords across this network, including those of our students\/learners.<\/p>\n “This means that learners studying for exams this weekend do not currently have access to Teams or One Note resources.
