A British reality TV show is reportedly poised for a reboot nearly two decades after it was axed thanks to the influence of Jeremy Clarkson<\/a>.<\/p>\n The producers of Farmer Wants A Wife want to capitalise on the renewed interest in agriculture and rural living after shows like Clarkson\u2019s Farm<\/a> and Our Yorkshire Farm.<\/p>\n First aired in 2001 on ITV<\/a>, the programme sees farmers welcome city women into their homes in the hope of finding love.<\/p>\n Farmer Wants A Wife aired for just one season on the broadcaster before moving to Channel 5<\/a> eight years later.<\/p>\n The 2009 reboot, presented by popstar Louise Redknapp, 50, was also shelved after one season.<\/p>\n However, now producers believe the time is ripe to give Farmer Wants A Wife a third chance in the UK, owing to growing enthusiasm for the presentation of the countryside on screen.<\/p>\n \t\t A TV source told The Sun<\/a>: \u2018Farmer Wants A Wife was one of telly\u2019s earlier dating shows before the likes of Love Island and Married at First Sight came along and created a whole new genre.<\/p>\n \u2018The time is thought to be right to revisit the UK farmers as interest in rural living has never been greater thanks to Jeremy Clarkson et al and after Covid many have rethought city life.<\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s early days, so a channel isn\u2019t yet attached, nor a host, but everyone is very excited.\u2019<\/p>\n While the UK\u2019s original version of the show failed to set viewing figures alight, Farmer Wants A Wife has been an international success for its creators, production company Fremantle.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t The format has been adapted by over 30 countries, including Australia, France, Sweden, Romania and the US.<\/p>\n The BBC was also seemingly inspired by the premise after it aired BBC Two show Love In The Countryside for two seasons in 2018 and 2019.<\/p>\n The show followed seven rural singletons from across the UK as they enlisted the help of farmer\u2019s daughter\u00a0Sara Cox to find true love.<\/p>\n Farmer Wants A Wife is not the only ITV show reportedly getting the reboot treatment.<\/p>\n \t\t Benidorm\u2019s Solana Resort could be back in business after the show\u2019s creator confirmed he has been in discussions about a new season.<\/p>\n The beloved\u00a0comedy<\/a>\u00a0premiered on\u00a0ITV<\/a>\u00a0in 2007, garnering an instant fanbase thanks to hysterical performances from the likes of\u00a0Steve Pemberton<\/a>,\u00a0Siobhan Finneran<\/a>, Janine Duvitski, Sheila Reid,\u00a0Tim Healy<\/a>, and\u00a0Johnny Vegas<\/a>.<\/p>\n It followed\u00a0an ensemble cast<\/a>\u00a0playing holidaymakers and staff at the Solana all-inclusive hotel in Spain, where chaos ensued.<\/p>\n Benidorm ran for 10 series across 74 episodes, finishing in 2018 when\u00a0the channel pulled the plug<\/a>, with original cast members having departed and ratings dipping.<\/p>\n \t\t Addressing rumours of a reboot, the show\u2019s creator and writer Derren Litten hinted Benidorm\u2019s return was on the cards.<\/p>\n \u2018Have I been talking to ITV in the last few months? Yes I have,\u2019 he teased on a Facebook live, according to\u00a0The Sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2018Have ITV commissioned a special or a series at the moment? No. Might they in the\u00a0next\u00a0few weeks, couple of months? Yeah they might.
