{"id":89190,"date":"2025-05-10T04:44:14","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T04:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/89190\/"},"modified":"2025-05-10T04:44:14","modified_gmt":"2025-05-10T04:44:14","slug":"pensioners-in-scotland-urged-to-get-help-claiming-new-devolved-health-payment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/89190\/","title":{"rendered":"Pensioners in Scotland urged to get help claiming new devolved health payment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pension Age Disability Payment has replaced all new claims for Attendance Allowance in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Pensioners in Scotland are being urged to contact a charity for help claiming a new disability benefit only available to people over 66 living north of the border. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/pensioners-health-issues-urged-claim-35101460\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Pension Age Disability PaymentLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Pension Age Disability Payment<\/a> (PADP) is administered and delivered by Social Security Scotland and replaces new claims for Attendance Allowance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Existing <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/attendance-allowance\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Attendance AllowanceLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Attendance Allowance<\/a> claimants will continue to receive payments of up to \u00a3441.60 every four-week payment period from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) until their award transfers to the devolved IT system before the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">National advice agency <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/advice.scot\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Advice Direct ScotlandLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Advice Direct Scotland<\/a> said households should not be concerned by the switch from Attendance Allowance to PADP as there will be no break in payments &#8211; worth either \u00a375.90 or \u00a3110.40 each week. While the name and handling are changing, the support remains the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe understand that these changes can cause concern for some people who fear they may lose out. It\u2019s crucial that older people who are disabled, terminally ill, or have care needs continue to receive the financial support necessary to maintain their well-being, safety, and dignity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThe Pension Age Disability Payment will be a vital source of assistance for those with long-term health conditions. With the rising cost of living and increasing bills, it\u2019s more important than ever that older people access all available financial aid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cIf you&#8217;re uncertain about your eligibility or need help with an application, our team at advice.scot is here to offer free, confidential support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Pension Age Disability Payment is available to people of State Pension age who need help with personal care or supervision to stay safe. It is also available to pensioners who are terminally ill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It is the 15th benefit now managed by the Scottish Government through Social Security Scotland.
