{"id":89471,"date":"2025-05-10T07:19:12","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T07:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/89471\/"},"modified":"2025-05-10T07:19:12","modified_gmt":"2025-05-10T07:19:12","slug":"kings-lynn-queen-elizabeth-hospital-ceo-alice-webster-honoured-for-38-years-of-nhs-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/89471\/","title":{"rendered":"King\u2019s Lynn Queen Elizabeth Hospital CEO Alice Webster honoured for 38 years of NHS service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A hospital CEO\u2019s passion for healthcare has been recognised during International Midwives and Nurses Week.<\/p>\n<p>Alice Webster says she was surprised at Lynn\u2019s Queen Elizabeth Hospital Trust\u2019s Long Service Awards when interim chair Andy Wood presented her with the NHS Long Service Award.<\/p>\n<p>The registered nurse and former midwife began her career more than 38 years ago as a healthcare assistant, and received the honour for her contribution to patient care and leadership &#8211; as well as her continued work in frontline nursing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 1150 858\" alt=\"Interim chair Andy Wood with CEO Alice Webster. Picture: QEH Trust<\/p>\n<p>Throughout her career, Ms Webster has worked in a variety of roles, including as a theatre nurse, midwife and health visitor. During Covid, she lived away from her family to support the services.<\/p>\n<p>She eventually joined the QEH in 2021 as chief nurse and became CEO the following year.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Wood said: \u201cAlice is an exceptional leader, but first and foremost, she is a nurse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer commitment to delivering outstanding care is inspiring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis award is a small way to thank her for the decades of care, courage and leadership she has shown both at the QEH and across the NHS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the demands of her role, many say they still see Ms Webster on the wards speaking with patients, supporting staff, and stepping in when needed.<\/p>\n<p>One example is when she helped a woman in labour in the hospital car park, and followed up the next day to check on the baby\u2019s safe arrival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was completely stunned to receive the award,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s such a privilege to be part of the NHS and team QEH.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing a nurse and a midwife has shaped who I am, and I still feel incredibly proud every time I put on a uniform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople aren\u2019t numbers, every person deserves the very best care, and most importantly, our time and attention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The accolade came around the same time as the International Day of the Midwife, Monday, May 5, and International Nurses Day, Monday, May 12.<\/p>\n<p>Pippa Street, chief nurse at the hospital, said: \u201cAlice\u2019s story is a reminder of the difference nurses and midwives can make in every role and at every level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank all of our incredible nursing and midwifery colleagues across the trust.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour expertise, kindness and commitment to our patients and their families are the reason we\u2019re able to deliver high-quality care, day in and day out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis celebration week is for you.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A hospital CEO\u2019s passion for healthcare has been recognised during International Midwives and Nurses Week.
