A GB News<\/a> guest was shot down by Richard Fitzwilliams – and viewers at home – after insisting that the British monarchy serves no purpose and should be abolished. Graham branded Prince William<\/a> “incredibly lazy”, declaring: “He doesn’t do anything! Last month he did about four days of work [and we pay] half a billion pounds a year for a whole family which we do not need, including people many have never heard of.”<\/p>\n

Richard pointed out King Charles’<\/a> record for bringing public awareness to environmental issues, but Graham dismissed that he was not the first to do so, and claimed that due to his “huge carbon footprint”, he is a “hypocrite”. Richard expressed that there was “incredible interest” in the monarchy. However, Graham shot back: “There’s interest in the Kardashians and David Beckham<\/a> but that doesn’t mean we give them half a billion pounds and put them on a throne!”<\/p>\n

Richard had argued: “Any major political party would give their eye-teeth for the figures in the polls that the monarchy still has,” before continuing that the royals were starting to exert “soft power” over political events.<\/p>\n

“The monarchy has enormous relevance – we’re seeing something that’s been going for over 1000 years and is part and parcel of the fabric of the country,” he exclaimed.<\/p>\n

Many viewers at home echoed the sentiment, as the opposition, Graham, was branded “scruffy, sneering and totally obnoxious”.<\/p>\n

“I put #GBNews on so I don\u2019t have to see & hear folks like this lefty republican & a lot of these other nutters on my screen\u2026 turning you off yet again @GBNEWS, might even have to go back to Radio 2!” one declared.<\/p>\n

Tempers flared as a second quizzed: “Why do you have that ridiculous anti monarchist talking rubbish?”<\/p>\n

A third chimed in: “This anti monarchist should get a life – monarchy stays!!! #GBNews.”<\/p>\n

The cost to taxpayers of maintaining the Royal Family has been estimated at \u00a3510 million per year – and American Republicans’ views on the monarchy have come into sharp focus since the UK’s new trade deal with Donald Trump<\/a> was agreed on Friday (May 9).<\/p>\n
