{"id":89889,"date":"2025-05-10T11:07:11","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T11:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/89889\/"},"modified":"2025-05-10T11:07:11","modified_gmt":"2025-05-10T11:07:11","slug":"i-had-a-pint-in-the-tucked-away-bristol-pub-with-free-pints-skittles-and-yoga-classes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/89889\/","title":{"rendered":"I had a pint in the tucked away Bristol pub with free pints, skittles and yoga classes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Langton is the only pub in St Anne\u2019s and appeals to a wide range of customers<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_BRI_PG_070525langton-13.jpg\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>The Langton Pub in St Anne&#8217;s (Image: PAUL GILLIS \/ Reach PLC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Before landlord Paul Frost took it over six years ago, you wouldn\u2019t get much more than a pint of lager, a packet of crisps and maybe a pickled egg at The Langton.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Fast forward to 2025 and there\u2019s a full food menu, several real ales, a fortnightly quiz night, dartboard in the bar and the old skittles alley is back open.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Even more surprising, perhaps, is the fact one room has been converted into a \u2018Wellness Hub\u2019 offering yoga and pilates classes and events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Forthcoming sessions in the Wellness Hub include \u2018yoga with live violin\u2019 and an evening of clairvoyance &#8211; talk about a dramatic transformation for an old boozer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And that\u2019s not all &#8211; the pub now has a separate cafe open Monday to Friday (8am-3pm), a collaboration with Bristol coffee roasters Blind Owl serving coffee, tea, breakfast and brunch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Tucked away close to the border of St Anne\u2019s and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/brislington\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Brislington<\/a>, this handsome pub &#8211; formerly Langton Court &#8211; reopened in 2019 after a major refurbishment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_BRI_PG_070525langton-4.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The well-stocked bar at The Langton(Image: PAUL GILLIS \/ Reach PLC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">As well as the main bar with its large TV screen, there is a quieter lounge area and a split-level beer garden at the back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There are old black and white photos of St Anne\u2019s and Brislington on the walls as a reminder of how this now up-and-coming area used to look like.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There is a large choice of beers and ciders on tap, including two ales from the Wye Valley brewery (Butty Bach and HPA) and Butcombe Original.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Cider drinkers can choose between Cheddar Valley and Thatchers, with Foster\u2019s, Amstel, Guinness, Heineken, Moretti, Brixton Coldharbour Lager, Neck Oil Session IPA, Gamma Ray and Tiny Rebel Clwb Tropica also on draught.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">When it comes to food, there is an equally wide choice and a number of daily deals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">These include Munchy Mondays (two pub classics for \u00a320), Beat the Clock Tuesday (hourly discounts from 5pm with 40% off food) and Thursday steak night (two steaks and fries with a bottle of wine for \u00a340).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It being a mid-week evening when I visited, it was \u2018Free Booze Wednesday\u2019 with free Amstel, Thatchers Gold, medium house wine or draught soft drink with every burger ordered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In order to claim a free pint, I went for the Langton beef patty, smoked streaky bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, pickles and burger sauce (\u00a316) and very good it was too, well above average for a pub burger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Food is served Monday to Saturday, 12-3pm and 5pm-9pm, plus Sunday lunchtime, when the roasts (complete with a live pianist) are so popular they need to be booked in advance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_BRI_PG_070525langton-3.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>There are several areas for drinkers and diners(Image: PAUL GILLIS \/ Reach PLC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">During the week, there are lunchtime \u2018thick cut bloomer\u2019 sandwiches (\u00a37.95-\u00a38.95) and light bites (\u00a37-\u00a38) including buffalo wings with sour cream and chive dip.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Main courses range from \u00a313.50 for wild mushroom risotto and rocket to \u00a323.50 for the 8oz rump steak, mushroom, tomato and triple cooked chips.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">From the \u2018pub classics\u2019 &#8211;
