Leeds United<\/a> were triumphant against Manchester United on Monday night. Gary Neville and Roy Keane were eager to praise the Whites.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A six-point gap to the relegation zone was Leeds\u2019 reward for the best performance of the season on Monday night, coming away from Old Trafford with three points<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Leeds knew we had to start well to get anything from the game, so to be two goals to the good after half an hour was dreamland. We then saw out the late onslaught from the home side to secure a famous win.<\/p>\n

Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Paul Scholes dish praise out to Leeds United\u2019s Dominic Calvert-Lewin<\/p>\n

At the centre of supposed \u2018controversy\u2019 at Old Trafford was Dominic Calvert-Lewin<\/a>. The Leeds striker was an absolute menace with one of his most rounded performances that you\u2019d have considered nigh on perfect if he finished his chances.<\/p>\n

Instrumental to the first goal, Calvert-Lewin muscled Leny Yoro into diverting Jayden Bogle\u2019s cross into Noah Okafor\u2019s pass<\/a>. He was then the victim of hair-pulling from Lisandro Martinez, seeing the diminutive Argentine rightly sent off.<\/p>\n

On the Stick To Football podcast<\/a>, the striker was given strong praise from some Old Trafford greats, highlighting how well he played.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought Calvert-Lewin was really good,\u201d Paul Scholes began.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a handful wasn\u2019t he? I know he\u2019s short in other areas, but he was a handful,\u201d Roy Keane added. \u201cBack to the old days, even the first goal. He attacked it well.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The missing piece was the finish for Calvert-Lewin. Gabriel Gudmundsson\u2019s inch-perfect cross in the early exchanges saw Calvert-Lewin slide in, denied by a brilliant Senne Lammens stop. Another big chance came and went in the second half when he latched onto cross and couldn\u2019t divert his header into the corner, saved again.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was brilliant, but showed why he\u2019s probably not at the top,\u201d Scholes continued. \u201cHe should have finished the game for them really. He bullied both centre-halves, he\u2019s amazing at that, but to get to the next level..\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe missed a good header against Man United,\u201d Keane added. \u201cHe\u2019s got to score that. I\u2019d forgive him for the other one where he slid in, the \u2018keeper made a really good save. But, the header..\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Calvert-Lewin should be heavily praised for how well he performance at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

That was the exact striker performance we needed in a tough away game where we had to press high, get in their faces, and show some mettle.<\/p>\n

Yes, he should have got on the scoresheet, without question. But, that victory doesn\u2019t come without Calvert-Lewin\u2019s tireless efforts leading the line. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth remembering his outstanding double clearance on the goal line to keep us in the lead late on. That will be massive this season.<\/p>\n

Of course, as Scholes and Keane say, his finishing is where he struggles. The rest of his game is undoubtedly elite, though.<\/p>\n
