easyJet <\/a>flight to Bristol was delayed for almost seven hours because of a ‘technical issue’ with a plane.<\/p>\nThe flight, EZY228, was due to leave Belfast International Airport at 4.10pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, April 16).<\/p>\n
However, because of a technical fault with the plane, the flight left almost seven hours later at 11.02pm. It landed at five minutes past midnight after a 63-minute journey time, according to the airline’s tracker.<\/p>\n
Details of the technical issue with the plane are not currently known, but easyJet said the issue “could not be resolved”.<\/p>\n
A new plane was arranged to make the flight, but passengers still faced hours of delays.<\/p>\n
During the delay, passengers were offered refreshment vouchers to use in the airport terminal.<\/p>\n
The flight arrived in Bristol six hours and 45 minutes after the planned time. The airline has been contacted for further information.<\/p>\n
easyJet operations control told passengers: “We\u2019re sorry that your flight has been delayed. This is because the plane that was scheduled for your flight today experienced a technical issue.<\/p>\n
“Because the issue could not be resolved, we’ve decided to arrange a new plane to fly you to your destination today.”<\/p>\n
Its general advice on compensation eligibility due to delays states: “If your flight arrives more than three hours after the scheduled time of arrival, or is cancelled within 14 days of departure, or you are involuntarily denied boarding, you may be able to claim EC261 compensation.<\/p>\n
