Ben Davies has returned to Rangers after completing his loan spell at Birmingham City<\/a> and now faces an uncertain future.<\/p>\n Blues are keen to re-sign Davies, 29, on a permanent basis<\/a> but a number of things will need to fall into place for that to happen.<\/p>\n The managerial situation at Rangers must be cleared up first. Ex-Blues midfielder Barry Ferguson has been in interim charge at Ibrox since Philippe Clement was sacked in February and a permanent successor hasn\u2019t yet been appointed.<\/p>\n Once that is done, the futures of Davies<\/a> and Kieran Dowell \u2013 the other Rangers loanee Blues would like to bring back permanently \u2013 can be decided.<\/p>\n What is Davies\u2019 situation at Rangers?<\/strong><\/p>\n Davies only has 12 months remaining on his contract at Ibrox which means that this is Rangers’ last chance to make money on the defender.<\/p>\n Rangers paid Liverpool a reported \u00a34million to sign Davies but they will have to take a big hit on that to sell him to Blues.<\/p>\n What has Davies said?<\/strong><\/p>\n Usually, when a loan player whose contract doesn\u2019t include an option nor obligation is asked whether they would like to sign for that club permanently, they straight bat the question and say very little.<\/p>\n Ben Davies did the exact opposite when he was asked if he would like his loan move to be made permanent<\/a> at the end of March.<\/p>\n Davies said: \u201cI\u2019m going to work here till the summer then see what my agent says. I\u2019m really enjoying it here so if the opportunity arose I\u2019d consider it seriously.<\/p>\n \u201cBut it\u2019s not really my decision at the minute so I\u2019m going to wait and then see what\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\n Davies has made an impression<\/strong><\/p>\n The defender has been talked up as a leader by his colleagues and he forged an excellent partnership at the back with Christoph Klarer.<\/p>\n Blues kept clean sheets in exactly half of Davies\u2019 44 matches last season and conceded just 25 goals with him on the pitch.<\/p>\n Klarer commented: \u201cI\u2019ve spent most of my time with Ben and we\u2019ve complimented each other very well.
