{"id":902342,"date":"2026-04-18T07:31:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T07:31:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/902342\/"},"modified":"2026-04-18T07:31:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T07:31:30","slug":"best-man-city-players-for-fpl-double-gameweek-33","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/902342\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Man City players for FPL Double Gameweek 33"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In our latest \u2018Scouting the Doubles\u2019 piece, focused on the teams playing twice in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 33, we assess title challengers Manchester City.<\/p>\n<p>Pep Guardiola\u2019s group will first host league leaders Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon, before visiting Burnley the following Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Given the heightened interest, let\u2019s take a closer look at their upcoming double and their most appealing FPL assets.<\/p>\n<p>DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 33 OPPONENTS<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve already mentioned the pair of fixtures that comprise City\u2019s Double Gameweek 33, so here\u2019s a quick look at their <a href=\"https:\/\/members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/season-ticker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">other remaining games<\/a> for the post-Blank Gameweek 34 run-in before we dive into the double:<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"198\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Screen-Shot-2026-04-17-at-17.30.26-1024x198.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-164587 webpexpress-processed\" style=\"width:450px\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also worth remembering that City will have another Double Gameweek before the season ends, against Crystal Palace, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/2026\/04\/09\/the-ultimate-fpl-chip-strategy-guide-for-all-16-scenarios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quite possibly in Gameweek 36<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to City\u2019s opponents in the double, here\u2019s how they rank for <a href=\"https:\/\/members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/team-stats\/expected\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expected goals (xG) and expected goals conceded (xGC)<\/a> across the season as a whole, as well as during the last six matches:<\/p>\n<tr>xG rank (last six)xG rank (season)xGC rank (last six)xGC rank (season)<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Arsenal<\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">4th<\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">3rd<\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">1st<\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">1st<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Burnley<\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">18th<\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">20th<\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">20th<\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">20th<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<p>Arsenal\u2019s 55.0 xG this season is the third best in the Premier League, behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/2026\/04\/14\/best-chelsea-players-for-fpl-double-gameweek-33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chelsea<\/a> and City, and they trail only City when it comes to actual goals scored (62, of which 37 have been from open play).<\/p>\n<p>Over the past six matches, the Gunners\u2019 10.25 xG ranks them fourth, during which time they\u2019ve scored 12 times, with eight of those goals from open play.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively, Arsenal\u2019s season-long league-leading xGC of 23.31 \u2013 more or less equal to the 24 goals they\u2019ve actually conceded \u2013 is superb.<\/p>\n<p>As for Burnley, it will surprise few people that the Clarets rank dead last across the season for both xG \u2013 28.0, with 33 actual goals scored \u2013 and xGC \u2013 64.03, 63 actual goals conceded \u2013 as well as for xGC in their last six matches, during which time they\u2019ve conceded 12 times from an xGC of 13.18.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Parker\u2019s struggling crew have, at least, avoided the clean sweep by ranking 18th for xG (6.13) in the last six matches, scoring five times in total.<\/p>\n<p>ROTATION RISK<\/p>\n<p>As our Pro Pundit Lateriser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/2026\/04\/06\/lateriser-on-double-gameweek-33-man-city-chip-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently pointed out<\/a>, Guardiola actually named a fairly settled XI in City\u2019s cup wins against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/2026\/03\/23\/arsenal-injuries-o-reilly-brace-peps-tactics-efl-cup-final-notes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arsenal<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/2026\/04\/06\/fpl-notes-mixed-fortunes-for-haaland-salah-update-on-isak\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool<\/a>; he then did the same thing in the Gameweek 32 victory at Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p>Using the handy new <a href=\"https:\/\/members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/minutes-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minutes Tracker<\/a> tool in our Members Area, you can check out the minutes played by each of City\u2019s players across all competitions in a certain time period; for example, their last three fixtures, as below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"483\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Screen-Shot-2026-04-17-at-17.59.01-483x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-164594 webpexpress-processed\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>On that evidence, there may not actually be too high a rotation risk when it comes to the most popular City players.<\/p>\n<p>An FA Cup final does await after Double Gameweek 33 but City have got a relatively favourable draw in the shape of Championship side Southampton, so there equally could be minute management dished out at Wembley, especially if the Premier League title race is still alive.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sun 19 April:<\/strong> Double Gameweek 33 \u2013 Arsenal (h), 4:30pm BST<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wed 22 April: <\/strong>Double Gameweek 33 \u2013 Burnley (a), 8pm BST<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sat 25 April: <\/strong>FA Cup semi-final \u2013 Southampton (n), 5.15pm BST<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Really, the extent of the rotation may hinge on the result against Arsenal. Lose and, in Guardiola\u2019s words, the title race is \u201cover\u201d, and the City boss may be more willing to shake things up as attention turns to the cup. Win, and the Cityzens can go top of the table with a victory at Turf Moor.<\/p>\n<p>BEST MAN CITY PLAYERS FOR FPL DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 33THE DEFENCE<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"452\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776497480_259_fpl-gameweek-33-scout-picks-10-doublers-bruno-1024x452.jpg\" alt=\"FPL Gameweek 33 Scout Picks: 10 \u2018doublers\u2019 + Bruno\" class=\"wp-image-164546\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:500px;height:200px\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Defensively, City have kept three clean sheets in their last six matches, with some very decent underlying numbers to back it up.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, an xGC of 6.18 in that same period is the division\u2019s third-best:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"284\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Screen-Shot-2026-04-17-at-18.43.19-1024x284.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-164598 webpexpress-processed\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nico O\u2019Reilly<\/strong> (\u00a35.0m) was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/2026\/04\/17\/fpl-gameweek-33-team-news-fridays-live-injury-updates-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passed fit by Pep Guardiola on Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018defender\u2019 has been in fine form recently, with his brace of goals in the EFL Cup final victory over Arsenal further evidence of his increased attacking threat, even when he starts at left-back. He then registered two assists in the FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool and a goal against Chelsea in Gameweek 32.<\/p>\n<p>With three double-digit hauls in his last five Premier League matches, O\u2019Reilly is the go-to City defender. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marc Guehi<\/strong> (\u00a35.1m) and <strong>Matheus Nunes<\/strong> (\u00a35.3m), as well as <strong>Gianluigi Donnarumma<\/strong> (\u00a35.6m) in goal, are viable alternatives at the back.<\/p>\n<p>Guehi has produced a return, be it a goal, clean sheet or defensive contribution (DefCon) points, in six of his nine matches since making his City debut.<\/p>\n<p>As for Nunes, he\u2019s racked up seven assists in 2025\/26, the most of any FPL defender. He subsequently carries <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/2026\/04\/16\/fpl-double-gameweek-33-differentials-3-low-owned-picks-to-consider\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">differential appeal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>THE ATTACK<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"452\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/2026-03-04T200638Z_171778808_UP1EM341JV1SA_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-MCI-NFO-1-1024x452.jpg\" alt=\"FPL notes: Haaland blank, Semenyo scores again + O\u2019Reilly injury latest 2\" class=\"wp-image-161638 webpexpress-processed\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:500px;height:200px\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Erling Haaland<\/strong> (\u00a314.5m) is an obvious pick up top, having plundered a hat-trick in City\u2019s recent FA Cup win over Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>Although he has now blanked in three successive Premier League games, he\u2019s still racked up 10 shots in the box in that time, and will almost certainly be the most-selected captain in Double Gameweek 33, making it a real gamble to go without.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also important to mention that Haaland produced a combined 25 points in the reverse fixtures against Arsenal and Burnley earlier this season. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, <strong>Antoine Semenyo<\/strong> (\u00a38.2m) has served up 56 points since his City debut, thanks to five goals and one assist in 10 matches.
