“I’ve just felt better” Coleen Nolan opens up about her weight loss journey<\/p>\n

Posing for our cameras in an array of glamorous outfits, Loose Women<\/a> star Coleen Nolan<\/a> has rarely looked happier, healthier or more confident.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the clothes fit and some even have to be pinned because they are big,\u201d she says with an air of mild disbelief. \u201cI\u2019ve never had that happen on photo shoots before. Usually, none of the clothes fit and I have to keep them open at the back and just fake it. I\u2019m just thinking, \u2018Wow!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

At 61, Coleen has undergone a noticeable transformation<\/a>, dropping from a size 20 to a size 14 using Voy\u2019s weight-loss plan, which offers a combination of weight-loss medication and clinical support to help users shape up.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel so much better health-wise,\u201d she reveals. \u201cMy back\u2019s improved, I\u2019ve got more energy. And confidence-wise, of course it helps.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Coleen is clear that it\u2019s not about chasing perfection. She says, \u201cI don\u2019t want to lose any more weight \u2013 I\u2019m happy. It\u2019s about maintaining now and having a healthy relationship with food and with myself. And with Voy you get 24-7 support.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mum-of-three admits her relationship with food hasn\u2019t always been easy<\/a>, revealing, \u201cI used to eat when I was happy and sad.\u201d While she can still feel self-conscious at times, she\u2019s now far more in tune with her body and says, \u201cI don\u2019t worry about it in the same way any more.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s this renewed confidence that has led single Coleen to her latest TV project, Celebs Go Dating<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She split from her last boyfriend, who she met on Tinder<\/a>, in late 2024 after three years together. Their busy schedules ultimately took their toll, and Coleen has previously spoken about how she came to prefer living independently.<\/p>\n

But after a year on her own, she says she feels ready to open herself up to love again. \u201cI genuinely want to meet someone and if I\u2019m going to do it, why not do it like this?\u201d she tells us. \u201cI knew I didn\u2019t want to go on the apps<\/a> again.\u201d<\/p>\n

So instead of swiping, she\u2019s now searching for romance on national television. \u201cIf they\u2019d asked me before, I wouldn\u2019t have done it as I wouldn\u2019t have had the confidence,\u201d she says. \u201cI actually phoned my management and said, \u2018Can I do this?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, she\u2019s the first to admit that dating in your sixties comes with its complications. \u201cIt\u2019s a minefield,\u201d says Coleen.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of the attention I get is from younger men sliding into my Instagram<\/a> DMs, and I think, \u2018Why? What could you possibly want with me?\u2019 My rule is, I don\u2019t want to date anyone I could have given birth to.\u201d<\/p>\n

But men her own age don\u2019t always hit the mark, either. \u201cSome of them act really old, like, \u2018We\u2019re too old for that now.\u2019 The minute someone says that, I\u2019m out,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m 61, but mentally I\u2019m about 35. I want someone who still wants to live, laugh and do things.\u201d<\/p>\n

While she\u2019s keeping tight-lipped about whether she finds love on the show, she says she learned a lot about herself during filming and had \u201cthe best time\u201d bonding with her co-stars, including Celebrity Big Brother<\/a> winner David Potts<\/a>, MAFS Australia<\/a>\u2019s Lucinda Light and ex-rugby player James Haskell.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe friendships were the best part,\u201d she says. \u201cWe\u2019ve got a WhatsApp<\/a> group and we\u2019re constantly in touch. It was sad when it ended.\u201d<\/p>\n

Away from dating, Coleen remains a cornerstone of Loose Women<\/a>, a role she\u2019s held for more than two decades. \u201cIt\u2019s my constant. It\u2019s great,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s like family.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s quick to shut down any rumours of backstage drama, saying, \u201cWe all get on. We\u2019ve got a WhatsApp group and support each other through everything. It\u2019s like having 20 extra sisters. \u201cI\u2019m closer to the people I work with most, so people like Christine [Lampard], Ruth [Langsford]<\/a> and Brenda [Edwards].\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s also embracing the newer faces on the panel, including podcaster GK Barry and former Love Island<\/a> star Olivia Attwood<\/a>. She says, \u201cI learn so much, even if I don\u2019t understand half of what they\u2019re saying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recent budget cuts at ITV<\/a> have been a double-edged sword for Coleen. \u201cOn the one hand, it\u2019s nice to have a bit more time off,\u201d she says. \u201cBut on the business side, I think, \u2018I\u2019ve got a mortgage to pay.\u2019 We get paid per show and I\u2019m filming fewer shows. But it has given me more incentive to do other TV work.\u201d<\/p>\n

When she\u2019s not in the studio, Coleen is happiest at home on her Staffordshire farm<\/a>, living a very different life from the one viewers see on screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday I am all glam, but by this time tomorrow I\u2019ll be at home, no make-up, hair scraped back, covered in horse muck,\u201d she laughs. \u201cI\u2019ve got horses, pigs, goats, five dogs<\/a>, six cats and chickens. It\u2019s full-on, but it\u2019s my dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

Family is at the heart of everything she does and her daughter Ciara, 24<\/a>, her only child with ex-husband Ray Fensome, lives in an annexe at the farm with her fianc\u00e9 Maxx and their five-month-old son Sidney.<\/p>\n

Her eldest son Shane Jr, 37, from her marriage to EastEnders<\/a> actor Shane Richie, lives ten minutes away with his wife Kim and their five-month-old baby Cruz-Carte<\/a>r. And while her younger son Jake, 33, and his wife Georgia live in London, Coleen regularly hops on the train to babysit for grandson Rudy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s chaos, but it\u2019s the best kind,\u201d she smiles. \u201cWe just muck in together. When I\u2019m working, Ciara does everything, and when I\u2019m home, we share it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coleen is proud of the fact that she\u2019s on good terms with her ex-husbands<\/a>. \u201cI love my relationship with both of them \u2013 it\u2019s so much nicer for everyone,\u201d she says. \u201cIn the early days it was hard, but watching my kids thrive without feeling torn between parents or being used as weapons is my greatest achievement.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth my ex-husbands were at my son Jake<\/a>\u2019s wedding and Ray stays at my house when he\u2019s gigging in the area. And they\u2019re the first on the phone if something bad happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coleen is a hands-on grandmother and it\u2019s a role she relishes, even if it sometimes leaves her exhausted. She says, \u201cSometimes I walk in the door and they go, \u2018Oh great, you\u2019re home, can you have the kids?\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh God, not today.\u2019 But I absolutely love it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coleen remains determined to make the most of life, a sentiment shaped in part by personal loss. Her sisters, Bernie and Linda, both passed away after battles with cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes you reassess everything. You realise none of us knows how long we\u2019ve got,\u201d she explains. \u201cWhen I\u2019m stressed or tired, I think, \u2018They\u2019d love to be here, even worrying about something silly.\u2019 It gives me a kick up the arse. It reminds you how precious every minute is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Coleen is showing no signs of slowing down and reveals that she, Ciara and Shane Jr are working on a new podcast: Nolans Uncensored . \u201cNothing will be off limits,\u201d she says. \u201cPeople are often surprised by how we talk to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite her packed schedule, she\u2019s still open to more opportunities. \u201cI\u2019d definitely do more reality TV,\u201d admits the star, who won Celebrity Big Brother<\/a> in 2017. \u201cI\u2019d do I\u2019m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and I\u2019ve literally begged to do Strictly Come Dancing<\/a>. I\u2019ll keep hoping. Life\u2019s too short, so enjoy it while you can.\u201d<\/p>\n
