A solo exhibition by artist Eleanor Carlingford opens in Glasgow later this month.<\/p>\n

Her first solo show of 2026 will be in Art Pistol and is titled Chariots, featuring 10 new oils on canvas.<\/p>\n

Eleanor, who lives in Kilcreggan, said: \u201cWhen I was young and living in a fishing town in Northern Ireland, the fish boxes were sturdy, made of wood.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough they stank of fish, and you had to sit amongst the scrapings of fish scales, they were fine treasures for the boys of the town. Frequently washed up on the shore, they were scavenged with purpose and made into race carts.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo fish boxes, one of top of the other formed the body of a wee wagon. Pram wheels were added. Also necessary was a rudimentary steering column. I wanted so badly to have one of my own, but I was a girl. It would never happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eleanor graduated from The Glasgow School of Art in 2005, after having a successful career as a writer and journalist.<\/p>\n

In 2018 she featured in BBC TV\u2019s Apprentice, which was followed up by her near sell out solo show \u2018Interface\u2018 in which Eleanor dealt with the idea of reflections \u2013 of one\u2019s own personal reflection and the psychology that exists behind.<\/p>\n
