It\u2019s been an eventful week for LIV Golf.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It began with rumours over the future of the breakaway league<\/a>, with executives called in for an emergency meeting in New York on Monday.<\/p>\n

But despite the opening week scare, its latest event – LIV Mexico – got underway at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City on Thursday.<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t begin ideally for the organization either, with coverage of the competition cutting out minutes after the broadcast began.<\/a><\/p>\n

LIV released a statement, apologizing for the coverage, but fans mocked the technical error amid rumours over its future.<\/p>\n

At the sixth event of the season, all eyes are on Bryson DeChambeau<\/a>, who is chasing his third straight individual victory.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a feat which has never been accomplished in LIV history, but his game hasn\u2019t translated well to the Mexico City course.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau vocalised his frustrations after a wayward bunker shot on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old sent his ball into the rough and discovered his lie was caught between exposed mud and a tuft of grass after a wayward shot from the bunker, before exploding into a fit of rage.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou got destroyed grass\u2026 oh, this is rough?\u201d cameras caught DeChambeau saying.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefinately good to see,\u201d he added, with an ironic thumbs up.<\/p>\n

The two-time US Open<\/a> champion requested a second ruling while repeatedly gesturing towards the patchy grass below his ball.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, his moaning towards the official once he arrived did not result in a drop. He would eventually knock it in within six feet of the pin, converting his putt.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau currently sits one-over-par after two rounds, tied for 31st on the leaderboard.<\/p>\n

The current leader is another PGA Tour<\/a> defector, John Rahm, who sits six-under-par entering Saturday\u2019s round.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau and Rahm are just two of a number of high-profile PGA Tour stars who have defected to LIV since its inception.\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIV CEO addresses rumours of league\u2019s shutdown<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prior to the Mexico City event, suggestions from the emergency meeting on Monday emerged that LIV could lose its substantial financial backing from the Public Investment Fund (PIF).<\/p>\n

PIF have invested $5 billion into the circuit since its inception in 2022, and reports suggested they were on the brink of pulling their investment.<\/p>\n

LIV Golf\u2019s CEO Scott O\u2019Neil addressed rumours of the league\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

“The reality is that you\u2019re funded through the season,\u201d O\u2019Neil told TNT Sports.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThen you work like crazy as a business to create a business and a business plan to keep us going.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBut that\u2019s not different from any other private equity-funded business in the history of mankind.”<\/p>\n

In a leaked email<\/a> the CEO also wanted to reassure staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be crystal clear: Our season continues exactly as planned, uninterrupted and at full throttle,\u201d O\u2019Neil wrote.<\/p>\n
