East Kilbride residents are being urged to state their objections to an \u201cappro\u00adpri\u00adation\u201d of land at the centre of a hous\u00ading row in the town.<\/p>\n

The council has con\u00adfirmed res\u00adid\u00adents now have until May 6 to lodge objec\u00adtions to its pro\u00adposal to \u201cappro\u00adpri\u00adate the use of open space land at West\u00adwood Hill\u201d for an afford\u00adable hous\u00ading devel\u00adop\u00adment of 99 homes.<\/p>\n

A spokes\u00adper\u00adson for South Lanark\u00adshire Coun\u00adcil said: \u201cIn accord\u00adance with legis\u00adla\u00adtion, notice was pub\u00adlished that the coun\u00adcil intends to appro\u00adpri\u00adate the use of open space land in West\u00adwood Hill for a pro\u00adposed new afford\u00adable hous\u00ading devel\u00adop\u00adment. Any responses received by the coun\u00adcil in rela\u00adtion to the notice will be con\u00adsidered as part of the over\u00adall devel\u00adop\u00adment pro\u00adpos\u00adals.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe coun\u00adcil await the full out\u00adcomes of the site invest\u00adig\u00ada\u00adtions com\u00adpleted earlier this year in rela\u00adtion to suit\u00adab\u00adil\u00adity of the land for devel\u00adop\u00adment, which will inform any sig\u00adni\u00adfic\u00adant con\u00adstraints on the pro\u00adposed devel\u00adop\u00adment area.\u201d<\/p>\n

The land has been iden\u00adti\u00adfied as \u201cpri\u00ador\u00adity green space\u201d within South Lanark\u00adshire\u2019s cur\u00adrent Local Devel\u00adop\u00adment Plan, but has been included in its latest Stra\u00adtegic Hous\u00ading Invest\u00adment Plan ( SHIP) as a poten\u00adtial site for new coun\u00adcil homes.<\/p>\n
