A rescue mission has ben completed in west Belfast, after a young woman fell up to 40 feet down onto a river bank on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) and the Northern Ireland Ambulance service were both in attendance. <\/p>\n

A spokesperson for NIFRS said that they received a call at 7.48pm calling them to the L\u00e1mh Dhearg GAA club on the Upper Springfield Road, as \u201ca female had fallen 30 to 40 feet down a river bank\u201d. <\/p>\n

The area in which the woman fell is in a wooded section behind the club\u2019s grounds. <\/p>\n

One ambulance and a hazardous area response team attended the scene. <\/p>\n

News Catch Up – Thursday 10 April <\/p>\n

From the fire service, there were two pumping appliances, a specialist rescue team and two supervisory officers, making a total of 18 personnel helping in the rescue. <\/p>\n

The NIFRS spokesperson added that they used \u201cspecialist equipment lines and ladders, and are currently stabilising the female, and preparing her for rescue\u201d. <\/p>\n

The young woman was rescued safely by 10.05pm. <\/p>\n
