{"id":907365,"date":"2026-04-20T19:14:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T19:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/907365\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T19:14:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T19:14:17","slug":"six-new-selective-licensing-schemes-in-one-london-borough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/907365\/","title":{"rendered":"Six new selective licensing schemes in one London Borough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"meta\">Monday, April 20th, 2026 &#8211; Harrow Council <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"940\" height=\"626\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Concern-pro.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7852\" style=\"width:800px\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>London Property Licensing<\/strong>\u00a0has learnt that six new selective licensing schemes will be introduced in the London Borough of Harrow over the next four months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selective licensing consultation Summer 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It follows a selective licensing consultation undertaken by Harrow Council in Summer 2025. We understand the public consultation ran for 10 weeks although\u00a0<strong>London Property Licensing<\/strong>\u00a0were not informed so we were unable to notify the thousands of followers who rely on our timely licensing updates.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The consultation attracted 74 responses from residents and 31 responses from landlords and agents, with just over half (57%) of respondents expressing support for licensing private rented homes in Harrow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cabinet Meeting approves new schemes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A report presented to Harrow Council\u2019s Cabinet meeting in December 2025 approved six new selective licensing areas to be rolled out during 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All six designations were made on 2 February 2026, but with a staged implementation timeline over several months:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The current selective licensing scheme covering the Edgeware council ward ends on 27 April 2026. A replacement five year scheme starts on 2 May 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A new selective licensing scheme covering the Roxeth council ward starts on 2 May 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A new selective licensing scheme covering the Greenhill council ward starts on 6 July 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A new selective licensing scheme covering the Marlborough council ward starts on 6 July 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The current selective licensing scheme covering the Wealdstone ward ends on 1 September 2026. New selective licensing schemes covering the Wealdstone North and Wealdstone South council wards start on 1 September 2026. We do not know how the new and old ward boundaries compare.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Whilst there is a selective licensing postcode checker on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harrow.gov.uk\/licences\/selective-licensing\/5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">council\u2019s website<\/a>, when we checked on 20 April 2026, it didn\u2019t yet include any of the new schemes.<\/p>\n<p>To date, we have seen no press release or news article on the council\u2019s website to raise awareness of these new schemes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Richard Tacagni, MD, London Property Licensing commented:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the Renters Rights Act 2025 increasing the maximum civil financial penalty for a licensing offence to \u00a340,000, and rent repayment orders being extended to two years, it is vital that councils actively promote new licensing schemes before they come into force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe introduction of six new selective licensing schemes over a four month period adds to the complex licensing framework in Harrow.
