Karren Brady has stepped down from her position at West Ham<\/p>\n

Baroness Karren Brady has left West Ham United after 16 years at the club and more than three decades in football.<\/p>\n

Brady began at Birmingham City<\/a> in the 1990s as the club’s managing director after working with David Sullivan and the Gold brothers, David and Ralph, to buy the club that holds the Second City’s name.<\/p>\n

She was at the helm until 2009, when Sullivan and David Gold sold the club to Carson Yeung, and later followed the pair to West Ham.<\/p>\n

Brady has now confirmed that she will focus her attention on business interests away from football after protests about the club’s ownership from supporters in recent years.<\/p>\n

The Hammers currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League table, two points clear of the bottom three, with five games to play.<\/p>\n

“It has been a privilege to work alongside the board, management, players, staff and supporters at West Ham United,” the 57-year-old said in a statement released to The Times.<\/a><\/p>\n

“Together we have achieved remarkable milestones, but the highlight for me will always be lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy – a moment that will stay with me forever. I am deeply grateful for the relationships, challenges and opportunities that have shaped my time at the club.<\/p>\n

“While this chapter closes, my passion for football and commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders remains undiminished. I wish West Ham United every success for the future and look forward to following their continued achievements with pride.”<\/p>\n

She was key to West Ham’s move from Upton Park to the London Stadium in 2016. She beat off competition from Tottenham to secure the tenancy for the London 2012 Olympic Games venue.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the departure, Hammers joint-chair David Sullivan<\/a> said: \u201cKarren has been an exceptional leader and a key figure in the club\u2019s development over the years. We wish her every success in her future endeavours and thank her for her outstanding contribution over the past 16 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
