There have been days when I have ordered a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/mcdonalds\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">McDonald\u2019s<\/a> breakfast on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/uber-eats\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Uber Eats<\/a>, then gone to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/co-op\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Co-op<\/a> and bought 12 bags of salt- and-vinegar McCoy\u2019s crisps, then had bags and bags of fizzy belt sweets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have had two large <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/dominos-pizza\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Domino\u2019s<\/a> pizzas with all the sides. It makes me feel ashamed. There have been so many times that I have gone to the garage and got the same thing \u2014 a Ginsters \u00adCornish pasty, one of their peppered steak slices, a sausage roll, bags of sweets and more McCoy\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d eat it all, then go to the downstairs toilet at my mum\u2019s \u2014 because nobody could hear me, as it was in the hall, next to the front door. I know it\u2019s gross, but for years I didn\u2019t actually think I had a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jack, who also has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/adhd\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ADHD<\/a> and has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tv\/15893150\/jack-fincham-addiction-depression\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">admitted battles with drugs, alcohol and gambling in the past<\/a>, is unsure how his eating disorder began but he believes it is connected to his first boxing matches.<\/p>\n<p>He says: \u201cI had to be a certain weight, so I would go in the sauna and sit in hot baths.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"article__quote\">\n<p>I remember the first time I made myself sick was the night before a match<\/p>\n<p>Jack Fincham<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cA friend taught me that you could chew food to get the taste and then spit it out so you\u2019d avoid calories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d go three days with hardly any food and was so starving, my mum asked my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">boxing<\/a> club if I could eat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey told her I could have a jacket potato with beans. I\u2019d just discovered my dad wasn\u2019t in fact my biological father, and I think that screwed with my head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I wanted to be good at \u00adboxing. Before an evening match I\u2019d go to school and not eat or drink a thing so that I\u2019d be ready for the weigh-in. I could lose 1.5kg in a day doing that. I was just a kid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first time I made myself sick was the night before a match. I\u2019d gone to the garage for food for after the match, and it was in my bag.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I was starving and I caved in. And I couldn\u2019t stop. I\u2019d bought two large packets of Oreo biscuits and ate them all, quickly, one after the other without really thinking about it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"article__quote\">\n<p>At times I was being sick five days a week. I didn\u2019t realise the harm I was doing to my body<\/p>\n<p>Jack Fincham<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAnd then I panicked and made myself sick. After that it was my cheat code. I truly didn\u2019t think there was anything wrong with it back then, I just used it before a fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Jack\u2019s \u201ccheat code\u201d became a pattern of punishment.<\/p>\n<p>He says: \u201cIf I hadn\u2019t won a match I\u2019d go home, watch a boxing film like Warrior or Rocky and feel useless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOr I\u2019d mind-numbingly watch videos on my iPad for hours, of Oreos being deep-fried \u2014 then binge, before feeling like a fat loser, and punish my body by being sick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was then that Jack\u2019s well- documented addiction to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/drugs\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drugs<\/a> and drink began.<\/p>\n<p>When he was high on cocaine he wouldn\u2019t eat, but afterwards he would be hungry and binge.<\/p>\n<p>He says: \u201cAt times I was being sick five days a week. I was a normal guy&#8217;Credit: Rex Features<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEventually it caught up with me because I started to get really bad reflux. I was in agony. I went to the doctor and told him everything. I am now taking tablets to deal with the acid in my throat. I\u2019m in agony \u00adwithout daily medication. I could be on them for ever, I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For a man who has battled an eating disorder for so long it seems surprising that he would want to appear in his trunks on Love Island in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>But Jack, who shot to fame after winning the series with ex-partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/who\/dani-dyer\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dani Dyer<\/a>, says: \u201cI liked the way I looked then. I was a normal guy. I liked the Jack I was \u2014 no bingeing around boxing matches, no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/alcohol\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">booze<\/a>, no drugs, no addictions, just being me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has kept his illness a secret from all those around him, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/who\/chloe-brockett\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Towie\u2019s Chloe Brockett<\/a>, who he has been dating for five years.<\/p>\n<p>But the pair have had a troubled time. <\/p>\n<p>Jack bravely admitted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tvandshowbiz\/33271141\/jack-fincham-drugs-booze-gambling-love-island\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">earlier this year that he blew his \u00a31million TV fortune on drugs<\/a>, booze and \u00ad<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/gambling\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gambling<\/a>, but is now sober.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tvandshowbiz\/33080404\/jack-fincham-predicted-downfall-jail-sentence\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Then he won an appeal against a jail term<\/a> for offences related to a dangerous dog.<\/p>\n<p>Last month he and Chloe, 24, split for a sixth time, but Jack doesn\u2019t know if it is over for good.<\/p>\n<p>He says: \u201cChloe and I haven\u2019t been in a great place. I\u2019m living at my mum\u2019s and she has moved out of the house we lived in and into her own flat. I don\u2019t know what will happen between us. I still love her. I doubt it\u2019s over for good.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been through a hell of a lot in the past couple of years. I didn\u2019t tell her about the bulimia, it is a hard thing to discuss with anybody. Even Mum doesn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am a very open bloke. I cry, I wear my heart on my sleeve, but bulimia, for a bloke, I didn\u2019t think it was something I could discuss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jack says when cricket star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/who\/andrew-flintoff\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Freddie Flintoff<\/a> and comic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/who\/jack-whitehall\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Whitehall<\/a> spoke publicly about their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/bulimia\/page\/2\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bulimia<\/a> fights he realised he was not alone.<\/p>\n<p>He says: \u201cIt was after Freddie opened up about his personal battle about five years ago that I felt a bit better about the secret I was hiding. I started to read up on it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe and I worked on the TV show Don\u2019t Rock The Boat and we had a great connection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said his bulimia started because he needed to get in shape for his career, like mine. I am speaking out now because I don\u2019t want the next kid who wants to be an athlete to go down the same route, to put their health in danger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d no idea back when I started that it can cause the reflux that I have, which can rot tooth enamel and damage your stomach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Jack Fincham boxing.\" height=\"960\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"Refer to Caption\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/jack-fincham-boxing-524644147.jpg\" data-caption=\"The sporty star even resorted to slimming jabs to try to get to his fighting weight before a match\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/jack-fincham-boxing-524644147.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>10<\/p>\n<p>The sporty star even resorted to slimming jabs to try to get to his fighting weight before a matchCredit: Refer to Caption<\/p>\n<p>Jack admits his reflux problem worsened after he took drastic action to reach the right weight before a boxing match in March last year, when he tried <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/health\/34879411\/fat-jabs-ozempic-mounjaro-cure-cuts-drinking-two-thirds\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wegovy weight-loss injections.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He says: \u201cI bought two jabs \u2014 the first from a private clinic \u2014 and stupidly I said I didn\u2019t just want the starter dose, I wanted to go as high as she would sell me. And she did sell me them. And I became obsessed, I loved it. But the second dose I bought, from a friend of a friend, made me so ill. I felt sick all the time, my stomach was bloated and I was constipated. And I was crippled with acid reflux.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe jabs cost \u00a3130 each and it was the worst money I\u2019ve ever spent, I felt so ill. God knows what was in the second one. It was off the black market \u2014 anything could have been in it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always taken risks with my health and, looking back, I feel stupid. I got down to my fighting weight. I lost 10kg in two months, but I looked physically shocking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t a good look \u2014 I wasn\u2019t ripped, I was just skin and flesh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese jabs may be OK if you\u2019re going to do it just to slim down maybe, but I had no muscle, no definition, no power, no stamina.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy body wasn\u2019t fuelled, it was depleted. I went back into the ring this March and was the same weight as when I was on the jabs, but looked great. I had done it the right way \u2014 through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/diet-nutrition-weight-loss\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">diet<\/a>, \u00adnutrition, being healthy.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"article__quote\">\n<p>I am sick of hitting the self-destruct button. My body has taken enough<\/p>\n<p>Jack Fincham<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNobody knows what s**t is in those black-market jabs. I hope by speaking out I will stop anyone else from going down the same path as me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jack has now quit slimming jabs, But dealing with his eating disorder will not be so easy.<\/p>\n<p>He says: \u201cAfter that fight in March I hurt my shoulder and couldn\u2019t train, so again I punished my body. I remember going to Tesco\u2019s and getting four meal-deal wraps, with more McCoy\u2019s and Dairylea Lunchables and Dunkers \u2014 about four boxes of them, too. I still have an unhealthy \u00adrelationship with food. And that\u2019s one of the reasons I also want to speak out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy boxing coach doesn\u2019t know about this, my nutritionist doesn\u2019t, and I want them to know and this is my way of doing it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tvandshowbiz\/33072608\/jack-fincham-hit-rock-bottom-drug-relapse\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cPeople may see me as some thick reality-star addict<\/a> but I don\u2019t want to be seen that way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be a brilliant, well fuelled, healthy boxer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a battle I\u2019ve had for nearly 20 years. And I can never say never. But I hope by speaking out, by learning about nutrition which I now have, and having the right team about me, I can change things going forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am sick of hitting the self- destruct button.
