DANNY Dyer has slammed EastEnders co-stars Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie as \u201cc**ts\u201d after they blanked him when he first joined the soap.<\/p>\n

The actor – who played Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter<\/a> in the BBC<\/a> soap – spent nine years in the role but, despite being a fan favourite, it wasn\u2019t all plain sailing behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s told how when he arrived on the show in 2013 , Jessie Wallace<\/a>, 53, who plays Kat Slater, and Shane Richie<\/a>, 61, who plays Alfie Moon, were not very welcoming.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a charity night at\u00a0Wimbledon Football<\/a> Club on\u00a0Friday, he said: \u201cWhen I first came in it was a very cliquey place to work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took the pub (Queen Vic) over from Shane and Jesse.<\/p>\n

\u201cKat and Alfie had an 11 year run and then they wanted to get rid of them so they brought us in and they had the hump.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“They were getting prickly about us coming in.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like,\u00a0\u2018What is the matter with these people? I have not made this call.\u2019”<\/p>\n

Danny claims Jessie and Shane also gave actress Kellie Bright<\/a>, 48, who played his on-screen wife Linda Carter, the silent treatment as well.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThere were a lot of people blanking us when we first turned up and me and Kellie thought \u2019You know what, f*ck these c*nts. Let\u2019s get together and show them something different.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had to prove ourselves over six months.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was hard work. Then a new producer came in and sacked a load of people.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor quit the show<\/a> in 2022 having struggled with the constraints of being in a soap while his final storyline seeing Mick coupled with killer Janine Butcher left him unimpressed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Danny also had a dig at the soap\u2019s scripts and Mick\u2019s romance with megab**ch Janine Butcher, played by Charlie Brooks, 44.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cYou\u2019ve got to sell this s***, and a lot of it is s**t. You\u2019re like, \u2018What the f*** is this?\u2019. Mick with Janine was mental.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danny also blasted the show\u2019s decision to kill off Lola Pearce, played by Danielle Harold, 32, with a brain tumour last year.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI felt for her. They came up with a storyline saying you\u2019re going to die of brain cancer. She\u2019s so incredible as an actress. She was wasted.<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, it\u2019s a brilliant story and you leave, but it\u2019s EastEnders \u2014 anyone can come back.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the boozy bash Danny also confessed bosses banned him from drinking alcohol in the Queen Vic and even put antiseptic in the beer barrels. He said: \u201cWhen I first arrived on set I was slipping around the side and having a few lagers and they found out so they started to put TCP into the beer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t off my nut. I had a drink every now and again.\u201d<\/p>\n
