closest to Birmingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cornwall, Kent and Devon featured heavily in the top 16 list, but one Yorkshire coastal town is quicker to get to by car<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_Beach-in-late-summer.jpg\" alt=\"Photo shows bathers on Scarborough beach\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Scarborough beach(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Brummies had their first taste of hot, sunny weather last month and there will be hopefully be plenty more where that came from as summer approaches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A beach day will be on the cards for many Brits when the next heatwave hits and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cntraveller.com\/gallery\/best-seaside-towns-england\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Conde Nast Traveller<\/a> has just released a list of the best seaside towns in England.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">When it comes to access to sandy coastlines, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> admittedly pulled the short straw, but there are a few destinations on the travel guide&#8217;s top 16 list within a three-to-four-hour drive of the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Read more: <\/strong><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/whats-on\/family-kids-news\/sandy-beach-two-hour-drive-31540776\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">The sandy beach a two hour drive from Birmingham with &#8216;fairy village&#8217; nearby<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Unsurprisingly, Cornwall, Kent and Devon claimed most of the top spots, with bohemian Whitstable and its high street of cosy cafes and second-hand shops taking around three hours and 40 minutes to get to from Birmingham city centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Margate&#8217;s traditional British seaside charm secured its place (just under four hour drive away), while Folkestone&#8217;s recent arty makeover earned its description as &#8216;one of the UK&#8217;s most vibrant seaside towns&#8217;
