Beatles legends Sir Paul McCartney<\/a> and Ringo Starr<\/a> have teamed up to record what could be their final song together – a nostalgic duet about growing up in Liverpool. Home To Us will appear on Sir Paul\u2019s new album when it is released next month.<\/p>\n And there is even a new \u2018Fab Four\u2019 on the track, as it also features backing vocals from the Pretenders\u2019 Chrissie Hynde<\/a> and Texas\u2019 Sharleen Spiteri.<\/p>\n A small gathering of fans were treated to an album preview in Los Angeles last week with Beatle<\/a> Sir Paul. And amongst the songs played was Home To Us, which initially Ringo played drums on but later also sang on. The pair are thought to duet on the chorus.<\/p>\n Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney in 2016(Image: PA)<\/p>\n Sir Paul told the audience: \u201cRingo\u2019s never done a duet with one of the Beatles.\u201d<\/p>\n Ringo also confirmed he had made a song with Sir Paul on the Jimmy Kimmel show earlier this week, but kept the full details under wraps.<\/p>\n Ringo said: \u201cIt started two years ago with the drums, it was like in reverse, the drums went on first. It\u2019s amusing and very real because that is where we come from.\u201d<\/p>\n The theme of the song is based about where they grew up in Liverpool which Sir Paul describes as being \u201ca little rough, but home to us\u201d.<\/p>\n Last month the first track from the album, The Boys From Dungeon Lane, was released called Days We Left Behind.<\/p>\n The album is said to be a revisit to his the formative years in Liverpool that went on to shape not only his life, but \u201cthe very foundations of modern popular culture\u201d.<\/p>\n Speaking about Days We Left Behind, Paul said: \u201cThis is very much a memory song for me. The album title, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, comes from a lyric in this track. I was thinking just that, about the days I left behind and I do often wonder if I\u2019m just writing about the past but then I think how can you write about anything else? It\u2019s just a lot of memories of Liverpool.\u201d<\/p>\n Dungeon Lane, was an area down by the shoreline of the Mersey where Paul would play out with friends. The area also had daffodil fields in the past but now would be known for being a short distance southeast of Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport.<\/p>\n The Beatles in 1963 with Paul and Ringo at the forefront.(Image: Popperfoto via Getty Images)<\/p>\n Sir Paul and Ringo last worked together in 2023 on a new Beatles track Now And Then, which was written by John Lennon in 1978 and put together using an old demo he made. It was billed as the band\u2019s final song.<\/p>\n Sir Paul has also provided a track for an EP Ringo made in 2023.
