Meghan Markle<\/a> and Prince Harry<\/a> have not trademarked the names of their children, Prince Archie<\/a> and Princess Lilibet<\/a>, despite reports suggesting otherwise, PEOPLE confirms.<\/p>\n Reports claiming Harry and Meghan have\u00a0taken steps to secure their children\u2019s names across trademarks came after the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle line announced a Mother’s Day collection that included tributes to her children<\/a>.<\/p>\n The birthdates of Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, were described as the inspiration for Signature Candle No. 506 and Signature Candle No. 604, respectively, paying homage to their birth dates of May 6 and June 4.<\/p>\n Prince Harry, Prince Archie, Princess Lilibet and Meghan Markle in the family’s 2025 holiday card. Although Prince Harry and Meghan’s children were born as \u201cMaster Archie Mountbatten-Windsor\u201d and \u201cMiss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor,” they were afforded the titles of prince and princess when their grandfather King Charles<\/a> acceded to the throne in 2022. The kids are listed as “Prince Archie of Sussex” and “Princess Lilibet of Sussex” in the official British line of succession to the throne<\/a>.<\/p>\n The royal titles did not appear on the As ever website when the Mother\u2019s Day collection launched online on April 22. There, Signature Candle No. 506 and Signature Candle No. 604 are described as being crafted and curated by Meghan, \u201cinspired by her son Archie\u2019s birthdate of May 6\u201d and created \u201cto honor her daughter Lilibet\u2019s birthdate of June 4.\u201d<\/p>\n In earlier press materials and product descriptions, the candles were framed using their royal titles, with Signature Candle No. 506 tied to \u201cPrince Archie of Sussex\u2019s birthdate\u201d and Signature Candle No. 604 to \u201cPrincess Lilibet of Sussex\u2019s birthdate.\u201d Each candle retails for $64 or can be purchased in larger gift sets, including The Mother’s Day Edit<\/a> and The Signature Scent Collection<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Signature Scent Collection from As ever. Unlike their cousins Prince George<\/a>, 12, Princess Charlotte<\/a>, 10, and Prince Louis<\/a>, 7, Archie and Lilibet’s royal titles were not announced with their names at birth. The late Queen Elizabeth<\/a> was still reigning when they were both born, and they arrived as the great-grandchildren of the sovereign.<\/p>\n It was a different situation for Prince William<\/a>‘s three children, as George, Charlotte and Louis were born as the eldest son of the Prince of Wales, when Charles held the title, and received royal titles at birth<\/a>. (The King named William as the new Prince of Wales after his accession upon the Queen’s death.)<\/p>\n In March 2023, PEOPLE was first to confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were using the royal titles afforded to their children in Princess Lilibet’s christening announcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n “The children’s titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch,” a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said then. “This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace.”<\/p>\n Though King Charles acceded to the throne following his son Harry and Meghan’s step back from their royal roles in 2020, his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet were still eligible for the prince and princess titles that are their birthright.<\/p>\n Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visit the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne on April 14, 2026.
