Road users in Belfast<\/a> and Lisburn <\/a>are being advised to expect traffic disruption this weekend ahead of parades taking place. <\/p>\n

In Belfast, the annual VE commemoration band parade is scheduled for Saturday evening in the east of the city<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Parades Commission<\/a> has marked the parade as \u2018sensitive\u2019 due to part of the route nearing the interface with the Short Strand area<\/a> on the Albertbridge Road. <\/p>\n

Conditions placed on the parade include no undue stoppage or delays, ensuring a prompt start and dispersion and \u2018due regard for the rights, traditions and feelings of others in the vicinity\u2019. <\/p>\n

The parade is expected to start at 7pm and end by 10.30pm. <\/p>\n

A police <\/a>spokesperson has advised motorists to expect travel disruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cMotorists are advised that a large parade is taking place in east Belfast on Saturday, May 10, in the areas of Chamberlain Street, Newtownards Road, Bloomfield Avenue, Beersbridge Road, Castlereagh Street, Templemore Avenue, Albertbridge Road, Templemore Avenue and Newtownards Road,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTraffic disruption is expected and motorists should leave extra time for their journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, the Mayor\u2019s Carnival is also expected to cause traffic disruption in Lisburn. <\/p>\n

According to the Parades Commission, some 1,500 participants are expected to take part in the event. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are advising road users to expect delays in Lisburn tomorrow, Saturday, May 10, due to the Mayor\u2019s Carnival, which is scheduled to take place in the city in the afternoon,\u201d a police spokesperson said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe parade will begin at 1pm, leaving from Lagan Valley Island, and making its way along Queens Road, Linenhall Street, Market Street, Market Square, Railway Street, Magheralave Road, Wallace Park, Seymour Street, Queens Road, and will terminate at Lagan Valley Island at approximately 3 pm.<\/p>\n
