Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is hoping Anthony Gordon will return to training ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Arsenal.<\/p>\n
Gordon<\/a> was absent for the 2-1 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth, but it’s believed that he will be given every chance to demonstrate his fitness before the weekend. He’s dominated the news recently, with rumors suggesting a summer transfer<\/a> to Liverpool<\/a> could be on the cards. Gordon has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Arsenal, with a \u00a375 million ($101 million) price tag being mentioned.<\/p>\n Howe is eager to have Gordon back in his starting line-up, and despite speculation about the player’s contentment, there are no problems between the forward and his manager.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Arne Slot told ‘there’s no comeback’ as Liverpool warned exactly what happens next<\/a>READ MORE: Liverpool legend expresses major concern over Arne Slot star who ‘plays like a kid’<\/a><\/p>\n Newcastle is said to be baffled by the origin of some of the transfer speculation surrounding Gordon.<\/p>\n His unavailability against Bournemouth came amid those reports, but there’s no question Newcastle may need to contemplate selling any player if a substantial offer arrives, and Gordon falls into that bracket.<\/p>\n Gordon sat out training on Tuesday and Wednesday, leaving his availability for the London trip in doubt.<\/p>\n Gordon is one of Newcastle’s star players(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n Howe will be hoping Gordon is fit and capable of delivering the kind of display at the Emirates Stadium that defeated the Gunners in last season’s Carabao Cup semifinals.<\/p>\n One player confirmed to miss the clash with Mikel Arteta’s side is Tino Livramento, who sustained a thigh problem during the match against the Cherries.<\/p>\n Livramento has been managing the muscle issue and is scheduled for a second scan on Saturday to assess how long he’ll be sidelined.<\/p>\n With the World Cup fast approaching, he’ll be desperate to return before the season concludes, but cannot afford any further complications.<\/p>\n Howe has instructed his squad not to wallow in self-pity ahead of the final round of Premier League matches.<\/p>\n Having acknowledged he’ll shoulder the criticism himself, he’s made it clear to his players that they must set things right. Even following the boos from supporters, Howe maintained he and his team had no grounds for complaint.<\/p>\n Howe remarked: “(It was) very fair. In between that, I thought the supporters were really good. They were doing their best to try to help the team and help players individually. I have no criticism or critique of that.<\/p>\n “I thought they were really there for us. They wanted us to do well.
