The Labour leader warned there were many Scots families who are “fearful of the prospect of Reform politics”.<\/p>\n

Anas Sarwar and Malcolm Offord clashed on Question Time<\/p>\n

Anas Sarwar has insisted he wants Reform UK to get “absolutely pumped” at the Holyrood election<\/a> on May 7.<\/p>\n

The Scottish Labour leader again denied<\/a> during a TV leaders’ debate that he would do any kind of post-election deal with the right-wing populists if it meant he could become First Minister.<\/p>\n

The SNP remains comfortably ahead in the polls with two weeks of the campaign to go but looks set to fall short of winning an overall majority – meaning potential horsetrading between the parties could take place after election day.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a BBC Question Time special filmed in Aberdeen, Sarwar was asked if he would rule out working with Malcolm Offord.<\/p>\n

It comes after the Reform leader in Scotland previously suggested the Scottish Labour chief had secretly approached him after a previous TV debate to float the idea of joining forces at Holyrood.<\/p>\n

Sarwar said: “Anyone who thinks a political party, that has targeted me and my family in a very personal way, are somehow the same people I am in secret cahoots with, I think they should look in a moral mirror.<\/p>\n

“It’s not just for me. There are lots of families across this country… I chose to come into politics, and I’m in a very privileged position as I get back to speak my mind. There are lots of families right now that who are fearful of the prospect of Reform politics, and Reform being anywhere near power.<\/p>\n

“I want Scotland to utterly reject Malcolm Offord and Reform on May 7.”<\/p>\n

Sarwar added: “It’s utter nonsense and I want Reform to get absolutely pumped in this election.”<\/p>\n

John Swinney was the only party leader to miss the debate in Aberdeen with the SNP instead represented by Mairi McAllan.<\/p>\n

Scots Tory leader Russell Findlay said: “John Swinney should be here to answer to the people of the north east of Scotland as to his opposition to oil and gas.<\/p>\n

“I suspect he can\u2019t look the people in this area in the face, because what he\u2019s been doing in the last few weeks is pretending that the SNP have somehow softened or changed their position.”<\/p>\n
