A 14-year-old girl went into a classroom at a private school<\/a> but she tragically did not leave the room alive. Melissa Campos was brutally stabbed<\/a> to death by a schoolboy wielding a pair of scissors in her class, in Uberaba, a city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil<\/a>.<\/p>\n The suspect, a 14-year-old boy, reportedly stabbed<\/a> Melissa multiple times inside the classroom at Colegio Livre Aprender, on May 8. A teacher<\/a> rushed to provide first aid to the girl in a desperate attempt to save her life before paramedics<\/a> came to the shocking site. Rescue team attempted to resuscitate the victim, but were unsuccessful, and Melissa was declared dead at the scene.<\/p>\n The 14-year-old student believed to have attacked Melissa fled the school after the fatal stabbing but police said they tracked the suspect down hours later and he was taken into custody.<\/p>\n Cops have launched an investigation and said the motive behind the attack is unclear at the moment. Melissa’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner\u2019s Office for examination.<\/p>\n In a statement, Colegio Livre Aprender said that both the Civil and Military Police remained at the school and added that classes and all activities have been suspended indefinitely. The school said psychological support will be offered to the community.<\/p>\n The City of Uberaba also issued a statement expressing sorrow over the incident and declared three days of official mourning.<\/p>\n Mayor Elisa Araujo said that “Uberaba is experiencing a day of immense sadness” and reaffirmed the city\u2019s “commitment to strengthening emotional support, school harmony, and a culture of peace.”<\/p>\n Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n This has not been the first time a school student has been killed inside a school in Brazil.
