Hull FC<\/a> man was brought in to look after skills and the spine and as a result, he has been working closely with Lewis over the last few months.<\/p>\nThe stand-off has now taken the opportunity to pile praise on the assistant even if he hasn’t quite forgotten Gale’s black and white past.<\/p>\n
“He’s had a massive impact on me,” Lewis said on the former England scrum-half. “Galey has been there and done it.<\/p>\n
“We’ve had a couple of battles which I keep reminding him of, scoring the hat-trick against him in the Hull derby at Magic is always my favourite, just to get one over him…<\/p>\n
“He’s been fantastic, just on my kicking game and seeing the game from a different side and I feel like he’s been really good for the spine, me, Tyrone and Jez, with the little details that we need to keep working hard on.<\/p>\n
“Especially kicking, he was one of the best at kicking so if I want to look at a full-back or wingers and what they’re doing and little details like that, we’ll obviously talk about it and show me videos of what they do and how I can get better. He’s been really good.”<\/p>\n
Of course, Lewis has a new head coach on the international scene that he must impress in Brian McDermott, who was appointed in the role on Thursday.<\/p>\n
“I think it’s a great appointment,” Lewis added on the appointment. “He’s been around a lot of years with what he’s done at Leeds.<\/p>\n
“Obviously he’s gone over there and done coaching over there, he’s well known and you have to admire what he’s done in the game.
