{"id":916393,"date":"2026-04-24T23:21:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T23:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/916393\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T23:21:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T23:21:16","slug":"campaigners-speak-out-on-airport-night-flights-as-council-agrees-to-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/916393\/","title":{"rendered":"Campaigners speak out on airport night flights as council agrees to meet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>Words: Don Mort<\/strong>, local democracy reporter<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">Video: <strong>Michael Broomhead<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>People living near Leeds-Bradford Airport have called for action to prevent an increase in night time flights.<\/p>\n<p>They described facing sleep disturbances and anxiety as planes land and take off at the airport.<\/p>\n<p>Campaign group the Group for Action on Leeds Bradford Airport (GALBA) said Leeds City Council should do more to tackle the problem.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Members of the group gathered outside the Civic Hall as the council considers a planning application from the airport which could vary the night flight rules.<\/p>\n<p>They raised fears over future expansion of the airport leading to further disruption to their daily lives.<\/p>\n<p>Nearby householder Nicky Ford said: \u201cIt\u2019s disturbing. It\u2019s very loud. We\u2019re also suffering from this build up of anxiety about what the future\u2019s going to be like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GALBA\u2019s Ian Coatman said the noise was not just being caused by individual aircraft.
