Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel<\/p>\n
One of Scotland’s most dangerous gangs, the Daniel clan<\/a> have controlled drug networks in the north of Glasgow for decades. A bitter feud with new kids on the block, the Lyons family, escalated into decades of murders, shootings and stabbings.<\/p>\n Most recently, Daniel crime clan mum Aileen had her motorhome torched as her family was targeted on their Possilpark home turf. The 44-year-old ex-pole dancer is the daughter of Norman Daniel<\/a>, who built up a multi-million pound dirty cash empire with his late brother Jamie.<\/p>\n The attack on Aileen’s motorhome took place on April 6 just weeks after rival crime boss Steven Lyons was arrested on an Interpol Red Notice<\/a> in Bali. The 45-year-old’s wife, Amanda, was also arrested in Dubai,<\/a> while 13 more Lyons-linked cronies were cuffed in Spain and Scotland as part of a two-year investigation into organised crime.<\/p>\n Sources told the Record as the Lyons <\/a>empire was crumbling, the Daniel crew held a party to celebrate their downfall. But the Lyons empire struck back when they firebombed Aileen’s van alongside a white Audi outside the home of another Daniel family member on the same day.<\/p>\n The Daniel and Lyons<\/a> families’ feuds were reignited last year when the Lyons mob joined forces with drugs baron Ross McGill and his Tamo Junto<\/a> (TMJ) gang.<\/p>\n McGill, 32, was ripped off by Edinburgh based cocaine baron Mark Richardson’s crew when they paid for a \u00a3500,000 consignment of cocaine<\/a> using fake bank notes. The Daniel crew chose to side with Richardson.<\/p>\n So who are the Daniel clan? Here, the Record takes a look at the history of the crime group and the family tree.<\/p>\n Jamie Daniel Jamie Daniel(Image: Reach PLC.)<\/p>\n Kingpin Jamie was said to have made \u00a316 million per year from his criminal enterprise<\/a> as head of the notorious Daniel clan before his death at the age of 58 in 2016 after a four-year battle with cancer.<\/p>\n His life of crime started on the streets of Possilpark<\/a> stealing scrap metal and shoplifting, before he moved on to selling drugs. Aged 25, he was jailed for heroin smuggling and after he was released he forged links with crooks across the UK and is said to have continued to import drugs <\/a>from Pakistan.<\/p>\n Jamie was believed to have been the main heroin supplier <\/a>in Glasgow for decades and also was said to earn up to \u00a31 million a month from cigarette smuggling. He was linked to the murder of gangster Frank McPhie,<\/a> who was gunned down by a sniper outside his Maryhill home in 2000.<\/p>\n Nearing the end of his life, he signed himself out of hospital five days before his death at home in Jordanhill. His funeral at Clydebank Crematorium<\/a> was attended by 600 people.<\/p>\n Many of Daniel’s ten children were in attendance at his funeral, including Kelly Bo Green, Francis ‘Fraggle’ Green and Zander Sutherland<\/a>, with the latter being released from prison for the day.<\/p>\n Norman Daniel<\/p>\n The Record reported over a decade ago how Norman, also known as Snudger, and his brothers David, Jamie and Ronnie went from petty criminals on the streets of Possilpark to becoming Scotland’s richest and most secretive crime clan.<\/p>\n The brothers<\/a> started with shoplifting, loan-sharking and stealing scrap, but ended up building a \u00a316million crime empire from stolen cars, firearms and major drug smuggling.<\/p>\n Another Daniel brother, William served time for killing Special Police Constable George Gates<\/a>, 50, in 1969. He battered the off-duty officer to death with a table leg<\/a> as he’d witnessed him and two friends stealing copper.<\/p>\n Norman became a victim in a latest round of firebomb attacks<\/a> last year. The pensioner’s home at Colston Drive<\/a> in Bishopbriggs was torched in the early hours of April 14, 2025.<\/p>\n Footage showed the 72-year-old’s bungalow-type property engulfed in flames after his home was targeted by thugs linked to a Dubai-based gangster.<\/a><\/p>\n Aileen Daniel<\/p>\n Norman’s daughter Aileen worked at lapdancing bars in Glasgow <\/a>and was crowned Miss Pole Queen in London in 2006. In 2010, she was charged with intent to supply cocaine<\/a> after being caught with a \u00a34000 stash and \u00a32400 cash in her car near Bathgate in West Lothian.<\/p>\n Aileen and 10 others were then convicted after a Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency probe <\/a>into a man who had been supplying the crime family with drugs.<\/p>\n She admitted the offence in court and told how she was terrified of her dad, Norman.<\/a> In recent years she has worked alongside Norman, 72, at a scrap metal firm he owned in the Springburn area<\/a> of Glasgow.<\/p>\n Aileen Daniel’s motorhome.(Image: REACH PLC)<\/p>\n Her motorhome was firebombed at Bardowie Street on April 6. Aileen shared footage of her van engulfed in flame<\/a>s as she hit out at hoods who see her as an ‘easy target.’<\/p>\n She wrote: “Broke my heart seeing this done to my motorhome.<\/p>\n “I am a single mum and no threat to anyone, just an easy target.<\/p>\n “We live among evil creatures.”<\/p>\n Steven \u201cBonzo\u201d Daniel<\/p>\n Steven “Bonzo” Daniel – Jamie’s nephew – assumed control of the group as Jamie Daniel’s successor. A year after his death, Bonzo was subjected to a horrific murder bid that left him disfigured for life.<\/p>\n He was ambushed by members of the rival Lyons group following a Rangers match at Ibrox in May 2017. Bonzo was in his dark blue Skoda Octavia when he was pursued by two cars in a high-speed chase, causing him to stop.<\/p>\n Steven \u201cBonzo\u201d Daniel suffered grotesque facial wounds(Image: Sunday Mail)<\/p>\n He was attacked with bladed weapons near the M8 motorway in Port Dundas just after midnight. Police said following the incident in the city’s Port Dundas area, the two cars made off in an easterly direction.<\/p>\n Emergency services attended and Mr Daniel was taken by ambulance to hospital, where his condition was described as stable. A court later heard his car had been fitted with a tracking device.<\/p>\n Two years later, six associates of the Lyons family<\/a> were jailed after being found guilty of five murder plots. Lord Mulholland told them: “You sought to turn Glasgow into a war zone for your feud.”<\/p>\n Now head of the group, the 45-year-old has been the target of several attacks in the past eight years as part of the long running feud with the Lyons. The most recent was last April at his luxury home in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, when the front door was set on fire.<\/p>\n The hood fled to the Middle East following the incident but returned to Glasgow the next month after reports suggested footsoldiers ordered to kill him were tracking his movements.<\/p>\n Bonzo was said to be at the top of McGill’s list of high-profile targets and a \u00a3100k bounty was placed on his head. Bonzo was wanted over his links to Mark Richardson<\/a> and a source told the Record he had been forced to return home to protect his family and business interests after they suffered a spate of targeted attacks.<\/p>\n Francis \u201cFraggle\u201d Green<\/p>\n Green is the son of feared crime boss Jamie. In 2010 the 42-year-old was one of the first on the scene following the murder of his brother-in-law Kevin \u201cGerbil\u201d Carroll outside an Asda supermarket in Robroyston, Glasgow. Green later admitted in court eating the sim card from two phones he was carrying at the time.<\/p>\n He was jailed for three-and-a-half years for attacking a grandmother, Susanne Simpson<\/a>, in the Cairn Bar in Balornock in 2011.<\/p>\n Susanne had been involved in a rammy with his sister, Kelly-Bo, but she phoned for back up and Fraggle arrived along with cousin Robert Daniel<\/a> and two other men. They launched a vicious attack on Susan, leaving her with a fractured cheekbone, scalp damage and bruising.<\/p>\n Francis Green outside Glasgow High Court (Image: Spindrift)<\/p>\n In 2017 a gunman opened fire on his home in Milton of Campsie, near Glasgow. A motor company in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, previously connected to Green, was set on fire in April.<\/p>\n Chilling clips posted online showed motors covered in flames following the attack, which was claimed by Ross McGill’s \u2018Tamu Junto\u2019 group, as they warned they were targeting allies of Mark Richardson.<\/p>\n It was later revealed that Fraggle was listed as a former director of the vehicles business.<\/p>\n Zander Sutherland Zander Sutherland being escorted out of father Jamie Daniel’s funeral service by G4S guards<\/p>\n The 36 year old is another of Jamie’s sons and is the younger brother of Fraggle. Zander was sentenced to 13 and half years in prison in 2016 for heroin dealing.<\/p>\n Last year he fled to Norway while on leave from Caste Huntly open prison, near Dundee, after death threats. He was then extradited back to Scotland in December. Sutherland got an extra 10 months added to his sentence at Perth Sheriff Court.<\/p>\n Alexander Sutherland<\/p>\n Zander was given day-release from Addiewell Prison in 2016 to attend his dad’s funeral,<\/a> after being allowed to visit him in hospital the previous week to say goodbye. He helped carry his dad’s coffin into the crematorium<\/a> but was escorted by three G4S security guards throughout the service.<\/p>\n Kevin ‘Gerbil’ Carroll Kevin “Gerbil” Carroll(Image: Daily Record)<\/p>\n Gerbil was a feared gangland enforcer for the Daniel crime clan who was shot dead in a targeted attack in 2010. He lived in Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire, with his partner, Kelly Green – a daughter of Jamie Daniel.<\/p>\n In December 2006, Applerow Motors in Possilpark was the site of a high-profile “Godfather-style” hit. Two gunmen from the Daniel clan, Raymond Anderson and James McDonald, opened fire at the garage, killing Michael Lyons, the nephew of owner, and Daniel clan rival, David Lyons, and wounding his son, Mark Lyons, along with associate Robert Pickett.<\/p>\n Gerbil was widely believed to have sanctioned or been involved in planning the 2006 attack on Applerow Motors. Underworld sources claimed that the Lyons family subsequently “sanctioned the hit” on Carroll as direct retaliation for this and other attacks.<\/p>\n Cops probe the killing of Kevin ‘Gerbil’ Carroll at an ASDA supermarket in 2010(Image: SWNS)<\/p>\n Gerbil was gunned down in 2010 as he sat in the back seat of an Audi in the Asda car park in Robroyston<\/a>. The son-in-law of mobster Jamie Daniel, he was known for kidnapping and torturing rival drug dealers in attacks dubbed “alien abductions”.<\/p>\n Ross Monaghan – who was shot dead alongside Eddie Lyons Jnr in Fuengirola last year – was arrested over the shooting but was acquitted after a judge at the High Court<\/a> in Glasgow ruled there was insufficient evidence to convict him.<\/p>\n William ‘Buff’ Paterson, 45, was later convicted<\/a> of the murder in 2015 and sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison.<\/p>\n Kelly ‘Bo’ Green<\/p>\n Jamie’s daughter is the widow of the slain gangster Kevin ‘Gerbil’ Carroll <\/a>who was gunned down as he sat in the back of a vehicle in the car park at Asda in Robroyston. Kelly ‘Bo’, 45, and Gerbil<\/a> had two children together and he became the step-father to her eldest son.<\/p>\n Since his death she has had a series of shoplifting charges<\/a>, but mainly kept a low profile until her home at Drumchapel Road was attacked last May.<\/p>\n A man was seen throwing liquid from a petrol can at the side of the property and scorch marks were later seen under the windows, with police <\/a>confirmed they were treating the incident as deliberate fire raising.<\/p>\n Speaking to the Record, an underworld source revealed that Kelly and Gerbil’s<\/a> youngest son was believed to have been in the house when it was torched.<\/p>\n Kelly Green’s home on Drumchapel road suffered fire damage in the attack<\/p>\n They added that Kelly’s home being targeted ‘would have made people smile all across Scotland.’<\/p>\n An underworld source said at the time: “Gerbil’s boy was in the house when this happened. All the Daniel<\/a> family remain priority targets despite their attempt to broker a peace deal at the weekend. But, this particular attack will have made a lot of people smile all across Scotland.<\/p>\n “Gerbil<\/a> was a bully and a thief and made so many enemies so a lot of people will be happy to see this happen. Kelly isn’t well liked either and has a horrible attitude, like the rest of them.”<\/p>\n In October, forensic officers were then seen searching Kelly Bo’s home after a horror attack left a man in hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n Police were responding to reports of the serious assault of a man but officers said they were not treating the incident as linked to the ongoing gang feud.<\/p>\n Robert Daniel Robert Daniel <\/p>\n Robert is the cousin of Steven Daniel. In November last year, two workers were attacked with a machete and seriously injured at a garage owned by Daniel in East Kilbride. Daniel was believed to be the intended target.
