St Patrick\u2019s High School in Keady enjoyed a visit from both the Sam Maguire \u2013 Gaelic football\u2019s highest achievement \u2013 and golf\u2019s coveted prize, the Claret Jug. <\/p>\n
The latter has been making its way across golf clubs and communities throughout the island of Ireland as part of a \u2018The Road to The Open\u2019 initiative.<\/p>\n
The two-week tour, which began last month at an event in Newtownards, Co Down, has seen the Golf Champion trophy visit clubs and groups across the country, ahead of The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush in July.<\/p>\n

It is the trophy presented to the winner of The Open \u2013 one of the four major championships in worldwide golf.<\/p>\n
The Claret Jug has been visiting clubs and communities within counties Down, Dublin, Kildare, Offaly, Roscommon, Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Limerick, Galway, Mayo, Armagh, Antrim and Donegal during its journey around the island.<\/p>\n
The Sam Maguire is awarded annually to the senior men\u2019s Gaelic football team that wins the All-Ireland.<\/p>\n
Last year, the accolade went to Armagh, and so it was fitting for St Patrick\u2019s to have Sam in attendance on Thursday too. <\/p>\n
SDLP MLA and former 2002 All-Ireland winner with Armagh, Justin McNulty, posted to social media: \u201cWhen Sam Maguire and the Claret Jug \u26f3\ufe0f come to your school on the same day #TheOpen #GAABelong\u201d<\/p>\n
