Two boys were injured following a firework incident in the Crosshill area of Glasgow yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Police have confirmed that the response to a firework incident in Glasgow<\/a> has been stood down after 30 hours. Emergency services were called to Dixon Avenue in the Crosshill area of the city at around 12.15pm on Thursday, April 23.<\/p>\n

Two teenage boys were injured during the incident and were taken to the Royal Hospital<\/a> for Children where they remain.<\/p>\n

Earlier today, police said that an item, believed to be a firework<\/a>, had been removed by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams and was being assessed.<\/p>\n

Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances. Forensic officers could be spotted at the scene today as they investigated the incident.<\/p>\n

The police<\/a> cordon that was in place following the incident has now been removed. Residents and businesses in the area were severely disrupted with road closures in place along Dixon Avenue and at Cathcart Road, Garturk Street and Allison Street near Belleisle Street.<\/p>\n

Police Scotland<\/a> have thanked residents and businesses for the patience and have confirmed that it is now safe to return.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Police Scotland<\/a>: “The incident in the Dixon Avenue area of Crosshill has now been stood down.<\/p>\n

“The cordon has been removed, and all roads have been reopened.<\/p>\n

“All residents and local businesses are safe to return.<\/p>\n

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1302 of Thursday, April 23.”<\/p>\n

Bomb squads from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) were called to the disturbance along with multiple emergency services on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

It’s understood that the two boys found injured were from Holyrood Secondary School. Eyewitnesses told our sister title GlasgowLive, that pupils were allegedly throwing fireworks on the street.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that a team from the 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search Regiment responded to the incident.<\/p>\n
