one-two at the London Marathon on Sunday.

The Kenyan endured an injury-ravaged training camp and almost missed the race altogether, but made the start-line in London and delivered a record-setting performance.

He and Kejelcha are now the first two people to run an official marathon in legal conditions in under two hours.

<a on Sunday, finishing in 2hr15:41.

The Kenyan was matched pace-for-pace throughout by Kenyan pair Hellen Obiri and Joyciline Jepkosgei, but a stunning late surge saw her pull well clear of her closest competitors.

Obiri crossed the line 12 seconds adrift of the winner, with Jepkosgei just seconds behind her.

Assefa’s countrywoman Degitu Azimeraw finished best of the rest, nearly four minutes adrift of the leading pack.

Dundee’s Eilish McColgan crossed the line seventh as the top-performing Briton in the women’s race, falling slightly short of her 2025 time as she finished in 02:24:51, with Rose Harvey two minutes behind her.

Here are the 2026 London Marathon results in full…

London Marathon 2026 men’s race
