Wallabies star Noah Lolesio was stretchered off with a suspected spinal injury during the Brumbies\u2019 clash with the Western Force in Perth on Saturday evening.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The talented fly-half was caught trying to clear a ruck on his own fiv-metre line when three Force players barrelled over to win the ball back.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for the 25-year-old, he was caught in a compromising position with his head bent down and his knees pressed towards his chest \u2013 causing an unnatural stretch in his back.<\/p>\n

It was only when the ball was held up on the try-line during the next phase that it became obvious that\u00a0Lolesio<\/a> was in trouble. Lying on his side, clutching his lower back, the physio came running onto the field to provide immediate medical attention.<\/p>\n

A confirmed spinal injury for\u00a0Noah Lolesio<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many in the stands were concerned for his wellbeing as he remained on the field waiting for the stretcher to appear. Stan Sport commentator,\u00a0Cameron Shepherd,\u00a0eventually confirmed:\u00a0\u201cThe good news is he\u2019s moving his arms and legs,\u201d before adding: \u201cThey\u2019ve confirmed it\u2019s a spinal injury.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lolesio will face a nervous wait over the next hours and days to find out just how serious the injury is. The Wallabies<\/a> face the British and Irish Lions on July 13 \u2013 just over two months away \u2013 an occasion that the star playmaker will not want to miss.<\/p>\n

However, it is worth noting that, with a Japan deal on the horizon for\u00a0Lolesio, his chances of being selected have taken a recent hit, with Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt making it clear that he is reluctant to pick those that have committed overseas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wallabies great reacts to the distressing injury<\/p>\n

Former Wallaby great, Matt Giteau, had the following to say on X, formerly Twitter, upon hearing about\u00a0Noah\u2019s injury: \u201cHoping for the best for Noah Lolesio and his injury.\u00a0Lions and Wallabies aside, health is a lot more important so hoping all is precautionary.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many fans have also wished the injured player well, with one person saying: \u201cHoping Noah makes a speedy and complete recovery,\u201d before adding: \u201cIt certainly didn\u2019t look good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brumbies take victory over their hosts<\/p>\n

The Brumbies went on to win the match 33-14, moving them up to second in the Super Rugby Pacific table. Meanwhile, Western Force now flounder down in ninth, just four points ahead of the Highlanders who have a game in hand.<\/p>\n
